Butterfly conservation park in Cambridge is an escape to tropical environment. They have a variety of botanical specimens which grow in Asia and South America. They have a huge collection of butterflies which are incubated and maintained in a perfect setting. There is a man-made waterfall with fishes and turtles. The staff walks around with caterpillars and rare species explaining it to visitors. The kids had a blast with butterflies landing on them and playing with them. There is an exhibition outside the controlled environment. It showcases spiders, scorpions, poisonous frogs, beetles and worms. The cafeteria at the side has a patio and has basic sandwiches, hot and cold beverages. They have enough parking space. Tickets are 20$ for 13-65 yrs, free for <2 yrs, 15$ for seniors. Overall 4.8/5. It is a great place for Wedding or event photography.
Lovely place to spend a relaxed couple of hours. It has some great “walls” for photographs . Just to walk around and be surrounded by flashes of brilliant jewel colours is like a painting come alive. The rooms with the glass cases have all sorts of creepy crawlies and very much alive! Endless variety of mounted butterflies and a wealth of information. It was our first time here and we had a wonderful time and a very enjoyable afternoon. There was a wedding event taking place that day so the Cafe was booked, and we didn’t get to try anything there. There is also the customary gift shop . Definitely worth it.
Came here with my wife and 5 year old. We absolutely loved it. The insect area is very underrated with great information from the nice lady in there, Avery. The butterfly area itself was beautiful. Also, keep in mind it's very warm for the butterflies so when the lady says the coat room is down the hall, it's a good idea to listen and do that. There's also a cafe inside which is surprisingly very affordable, however, if you don't eat animals, not many choices. I'd allow about an hour to see everything in here. We budgeted a bit more time but that wasn't necessary. Unless you plan on eating there. It was very cool though, a definite stop on the way to Toronto or anywhere in that area. 5/5.
More than just butterflies - beautiful small birds & awesome insects! We have annual passes & it is well worth the cost. Food is delicious, staff are super friendly, atmosphere is great. It is a small place - 2 small rooms with live & dead bugs, 1 butterfly area, gift shop & food…good place to spend a couple of hours before nap time with a toddler. It’s great that they do timed ticketing to ensure that the place doesn’t get too crowded. It was more fun to visit when capacity was lower - pick a time to visit when there are lots of tickets available…that way you’ll have a more personalized experience & less people competing for butterflies to land on them.
Great place to bring the family. Wear something bright to attract the butterflies on you! Kids will love this place!! Cool displays of bugs and a small gift shop. Not sure if the cafe is open yet, but the family had lots of fun! Roughly takes about an hour to go through the whole place.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
The space is very small. The staff is very friendly. It's located in a very rural area with nothing else to see after you had your 2 hour timed visit. Fun for kids under age 4. Nice for seniors as well. Wouldn't say this is a date spot. Closes at 5pm. So you have to book off work to go. Not a place I'd go to in the winter as the roads are small and dark. The butterflies are very pretty. And the climate inside is very warm. Lots of fish, turtles, frogs. Birds and other small insects to look at.
Spent Wonderful summer afternoon here with family!! Lovely well maintained property. Book your tickets online otherwise you maybe rejected if there is no spot available!! There is a cafe inside for a quick bite but you can bring your own food and enjoy it at the back on picnic tables provided at the facility. Neat and clean washrooms are there! Ample parking is available Kids will love it
Absolutely love this place. The staff are passionate, informative and friendly. I probably spent an hour watching butterflies emerge and despite the fact that they see thousands a week the staff were right there watching and explaining/teaching with wonder in their voices. Truly people that love their jobs! Doesn’t get too too busy - 50 tickets per half hour, unlimited duration but budget about 2 hours if you want to stay engaged, longer if you just want to relax or observe.
Went for the first time with my parents for Mother's Day, it was lovely visit! Beautiful butterflies in a tropical climate room, surrounded by lush plants, chirping birds, and even some fish and a turtle in the small pond in the centre of the room. As you walk around the circular pathway, there are benches, info plaques, butterfly feeders, and some small display tanks. The room was smaller than I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much there still is to see. Along with the main butterfly area, there are two additional galleries with live and preserved specimens of interesting insects, bugs, arachnids, and amphibians, as well as preserved specimens of butterflies and moths. Happy to recommend a visit, especially if you like nature and science. With the bubbling creek and waterfall over the pond, even though it was sometimes busy, it still felt relaxing and peaceful, like being in a little slice of the forest in the city. Plus you get to see/learn about bugs and other creatures - what's more to want?
It's a very nice place to spend a couple of hours of quality time with family and friends. The facility has two sections. One section has few exhibits in the glass enclosures and another section has a tropical garden with all the live butterflies flying around. It also has a few very cool birds. Overall it was a very good experience.
