The service was excellent and the food was good but didn’t fully live up to our expectations. We ordered the scallops for our appetizer - cooked well but all the seasoning was in a very thin gravy that didn’t catch on to the scallops, for entrees we got the jerk pork loin - was overcooked and tough but the rice that came and the flavors were great, and the curried goat - cooked perfectly, soft and well seasoned. The cocktails were potent but taste wise they fell a bit flat.
This place gets very busy during summer and they don't take reservations, so we were happy to finally get a seat. If you sit in the entrance area you get a chance to look at the waterfront. We had cocktails, 2 appetizers and the Rasta Pasta. We loved the conch fritters and the Rasta Pasta had a great flavor of the Jamaican jerk spices with a nice kick. Recommended if you like to give Jamaican/Caribbean cuisine a try. Parking: Has a few parking spots in front of the restaurant, you can park on the street if it's full.
Absolutely love Calypso. It is one of our go to spots in Edmonds. The drinks are delicious, staff are wonderful and the owner is awesome. Make sure to try the Rasta pasta and the pain killer. They are so good! Often they are busy but always are able to accommodate with a little wait. Get there early for a table!
Our friends took us here. Local restaurant near the ferry terminal in Edmonds. The food is good and generous portions. Try the pork ribs as a starter. It is delicious. We had a Jerk Chicken. Oh man this was good. Cocktails are great too. And dont forget the desert. Yummy. Very friendly and efficient staff. Slightly on the spendy side but good value for money.
Let me tell you a story about the best place to go to in Edmonds! I know because I’ve been here multiple times and the service has always exceeded my expectations. The staff is attentive and the food is nothing short of lovely. The bathroom is always presentable and it smells good in there. I judge restaurants based on how clean they are. Who’d want to eat somewhere where they can’t pee? Now the wait times are sometimes extended especially on weekends because the food is in high demand. The prices and portions are extremely reasonable and the drinks, OMG fantastic! When you come here, order a drink and sip patiently. I promise you when your food comes out, you won’t be disappointed. My favorite meal to get is the jerked chicken. It is spiced correctly and does remind me of Jamaica. Try the Rasta pasta too! And the rum cake and cornbread is just sooooo YUMMY!
Finally visited Calypso after living in Edmonds for almost 2 years, and this place is great! Fun frozen cocktails, available in a pineapple for a little extra. We shared two appetizers, and ordered meals, and definitely was too full to finish everything. Great flavors and portion sizes. Will definitely be a repeat spot to visit.
Hidden gem!!! Wow! We ordered the jerk pork loin w/risotto substitute & the curry goat dish. Wow is all i can say! Kudos Chef Jason! The presentation is exceptional! Dessert? Try their Rum cake dish...just try it. It's owned by 3 people: Husband Chambers & wife Jennifer& DJ. Kudos Chef Jason & welcome to my list now of favorites! Definitely recommend.
Let me start off by saying the food was played so beautifully! However, as far as taste and flavor I’ll give it a 2/10. The curry goat taste like soap water. The jerk chicken was RAW we told our server {ROBERT} and he literally did nothing. Only stay that the chief cooked it properly BUT I cut it and show it to him. It was clearly pink/red anyways we still tip well. Even tho we waited over a hour to get the uncooked food. Oh and you don’t get a lot of rice with the meal.
We had a lovely time celebrating our anniversary at Calypso. The whole experience was 5 stars from the moment we walked in.
What took us so long to try this fun place?..Splendidly tasty and spicy meals, fun drinks, funky music, a great place to enjoy time together. Friendly and super helpful staff. Another visit is in order.Dine in: Yes
