Excellent authentic Italian restaurant with in an unpretentious setting. A lot of the clientele are regulars, and the waiters are very attentive and know their stuff. The Dante salad is to die for, and the pasta of course, is state of the art. Grazie mille!
Pork rib was excellent, friendly service, definitely will repeat.
The pastas and antipasti were good. They also gave us extra antipasti on the house which we thought was very kind of them. Soon after we received the bill, we were shocked by how much they charge us on something that was not on the menu: $100 on antipasti alone. We understand that the waiter was trying to upsell the menu, but we were not advised on the price. And also when ordering the pasta, the waiter did not inform us that we have 2 sizes to choose from entrees and main size. So we ended up with oversized meal and overcharged bill.
One of the best Italian restaurant in Montreal. The prosciutto melted in mouth. Each dishes were delicate and very tasty. Great service. You have the impression that you invited in somebody's home. Don't judge by its look but by its quality of food. Service was a bit long, so don't be stressed. Difficult to find a parking so don't be discourage. It's totally worth it.
Fantastic Italian. Staff is wonderful. Must go to if visiting Montreal.
The wine was excellent, the food absolutely fantastic, the vanilla custard desert is so smooth and creamy you want 2 of them and our waiter "Carl" was exceptional and personable! We will definitely return to Cafe Via Dante the next time we're in Montreal. I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates fine Italian food.
The service is GREAT. I had mushroom appetizer and the rabbit. It was also great. My companion had the beef on mashed potatoes and octopus as a starter. This was not so great. The octopus was burned to the point you tasted charred grit on the smaller pieces. The larger pieces were too salty. The beef was just shredded beef on potatoes.... really boring. With all the great Italian restos to choose from I would think the quality and Italianness of the restaurant would be better.
Small, intimate Italian restaurant near the Jean Talon market. The emphasis here is on using fresh ingredients and creating an interesting daily menu. Wine list has some compelling private importation choices. Attentive service. Not inexpensive, but there are few Italian restaurants left of this caliber in Montreal.
We went there for our bday with my partner... we were outside they have 2 cute tables view on the church, and the full moon yeah total romantic dinner : check :D The food was delicious, and...they can cook a rabbit!! It's kind of expensive, like all italian restaurants in Little Italy, but you can take take half portion half price and we were completely full with half starter / a full plate / no alcohol no dessert ++ the waiter was nice / they have their own sparkling water
Very authentic, down-to-earth Italian place! Great service, great food. Really comfortable atmosphere. We ordered grilled mushrooms as antipasti, rigatoni al forno half portion and pappardelle al ragu. Everything was wonderful. The pappardelle especially was exceptional!! Ended with panna cotta for dessert, accompanied with an espresso. Surprisingly, was blown away by the Fantini espresso!! Super strong and rich, it was amazing. Anyway, I agree it's not inexpensive, but I feel like it's a good representation of what Little Italy is. Will definitely recommend!
