I love our public library, it's clean and the employees are super nice. The experience of going there is worth it. Lots of choices of books, subjects and many other choices such as CDs, magazines, etc.
My experience at CEGEPnnThe CEGEP's strong points are its staff.n- The teaching staff make the day very enjoyable, and some organize truly enjoyable technical activities that the students love.n- There is a self-correction center at the CEGEP. Managed by students and teachers, it allows us to correct our French mistakes, allowing us to learn from them and regain points.n- The adaptive services are very good.nnThe CEGEP's negative points. There are so many that I can't list them all.n-Parking in winter is hell. Snow is piled up in parking lots to the point where there's not enough. If you bought a sticker, you probably won't have any space to park. There's always at least 2 inches of ice and there's no salt, so it's not uncommon to see someone fall. When it rains and the snow is easily scraped, it freezes, and many potholes form I was so afraid of breaking my car.nI got run over in the parking lot because in winter there's snow piled up to the height of the speed bumps, and students take advantage of it to make toast. I'm not the only one who's been run over.n-Second point: the injustice between classes. If you're not into a major in technical or athletic fields, you'll notice what I call the class hierarchy. The junior technical classes were moved to smaller ones with less than ideal comfort. For example, in 3080 or 3085 I don't remember the number, they removed the computer room with a good size, leaving us with a small room where the desk slide isn't even big enough to fit the keyboard and mouse. While the junior technical classes require decent chairs, the athletes and the continuing education program are entitled to new chairs with super comfortable armrests, some even have armrests! They changed the chairs twice during my studies. The first time, they bought a batch of chairs that were so defective that 17 chairs were unusable by the end of the month. The second batch of chairs was very uncomfortable, especially when you spend 5 to 6 hours straight on them.n- The athletes were supposed to play a soccer game the day after the Halloween party, and as luck would have it, this Halloween party was the first Halloween party without alcohol. -The price of printing paper is ridiculous. Printing a C-size paper costs $1, while at the Limoilou CEGEP it's only 15 cents.n-There are few books in the library, and when you want to study, if it's the end of the semester, you won't get a table.n-The CEGEP's Omnivox is often slow; it's not surprising if it crashes in the middle of the day.n-The heating leaves something to be desired.n-The groups at the CEGEP are very distinct; there's no mixing. If you're a group of friends, you won't have a chance because there's little activity.n-It's quite difficult to concentrate in the computer rooms. In fact, many students wander the hallways without noticing which students might be in the classrooms. Furthermore, the administration had the brilliant idea of adding a piano near them. It took 1.5 sessions for the management to do something because you could clearly hear people trying to play the piano in the middle of an exam. The management simply added a note saying that if someone wants to play the piano they should close the door but that doesn't stop everyone from playing, especially since they are still playing the piano.
The best years of my life were at Cégep de Thetford! A CEGEP on a human scale... it's a micro-CEGEP, which gives you the advantage of being able to build relationships with certain professors and classmates.nnThe CEGEP, despite its small size, offers the services students need: a decent library, a gym, student services, a performance hall, ping-pong table, and a soccer field.nnThe CEGEP is aware of the declining student body and is making considerable efforts to recruit international students... which adds an international dimension to the CEGEP.nnThe CEGEP is located right across from the Galeries de Thetford Shopping Center.nThe residences behind the CEGEP are still on a human scale, close to nature/forest.nnA very good CEGEP... we appreciate NOT feeling like a number.
