First and foremost, the atmosphere and service of this restaurant is unparalleled compared to other Italian restaurants in Ontario, with my server being excellent and telling me the history. I have been meaning to go here for the Neapolitan pizza for a while, and since it’s Easter I decided to finally go. And despite being Saturday it was still spacious and easy to talk.nnGot the pizza della settimana, an Easter special. The dough although tougher, less airy and a bit thicker in the middle than your average Neapolitan, was still extremely good, with good structure, impressive spotting, and flavour, possibly just lower hydration. The pizza itself has a whipped ricotta base that paired nicely with the lemon zest and bitterness of anchovies that made them a good pairing, and pizza felt filling. Very creative Easter ingredients. So overall, less traditional base but struck perfect balance with creative, fresh, authentic ingredients. And like all their pizzas presentation is top notch. 9.3/10nnGot limoncello crostata for dessert, it was excellent. The freshness of ingredients comes through, with a pastry that doesn’t overpower the lemon filling, and a pistachio base and topping that adds a bit of crispness. Plus it’s beautiful.nWonderful restaurant that clearly takes its dishes seriously and its ingredients.nnWill definitely return for the calabrese.
We recently hosted our son's 1st birthday party at Buon Gusto, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Alex did an incredible job organizing and hosting our private event, ensuring that everything ran smoothly and that every detail was taken care of.nnThe food was absolutely amazing, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how delicious everything was. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was perfect for our celebration, and everyone left impressed.nnA huge thank you to Alex and the entire Buon Gusto team for making our son's special day so memorable. I would recommend Alex and Buon Gusto 100% to anyone looking to host a private event or enjoy a fantastic dining experience.
Buon Gusto. My mom and I stopped in for a late lunch and had the most lovely experience. Ali, the owner, was incredible, he took the time to sit and chat with us, which made the whole visit feel so warm and personal.nnWe ordered the classic margherita pizza and the scrumptious mushroom mafalda both absolutely delicious. Everything was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly done.nnAfterward, Ali surprised us with an incredibly deliciously divine dessert; a chocolate chip cookie bowl made in collaboration with a local bakery from down the street , topped with vanilla ice cream and served with a steaming hot espresso on the side to pour overtop. This treat was absolutely decadent.nnWe hadn’t been here in about a year and a half, and this visit reminded me exactly why I’ll definitely be back. The management truly goes above and beyond. Their welcoming atmosphere, warm kindness, and genuine, thoughtful hospitality from start to finish is what made our experience purely “Buon Gusto”.
It’s an Italian spot on a nice street in the center of Guelph. The interior design is mix of industrial and modern.nService is friendly but not so quick even when a restaurant is less than 50% full.nSome nice music plays on background, but noise from patrons is too high to have a quiet conversation, thus, the place cannot be called romantic.nComplimentary foccacio bread and olive oil with balsamic vinegar are served.nnCharred OctopusnIt's the smallest portion of octopus that I ever got in restaurants as I could recall.nAlso octopus wasn't tender and was a bit too salty.nNevertheless a combination of flavors from fava beans, kale, fried spicy Soppressata and octopus was pretty interesting.nnCalamari FrittinTender and properly cooked calamari, and the portion is not small, thus, as an appetizer it's a better choice.nnPear Walnut Arugula Insalata with chicken or $12 salmonnBaby arugula, fresh pears, candied walnuts, grana padano, lemon vinaigrettennVery good salad and tender and juicy grilled chicken breast. Crunchy candied walnuts, fresh arugula, thinly sliced pear, thin slices of Grana Padano cheese, together with children breast are so good mixture of flavors and textures that I was really pleased.nnSo my feelings are mixed: it seems to me that a place has a good potential, but they have to improve service and reconsider sizes of some dishes or prices.
My coworker and I came in after a shift and had a wonderful experience. Our server, Nat, was incredibly attentive, she made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit.nI tried the Mother’s Day fish feature, and it was incredible. The kitchen did an amazing job, both with the flavour and the presentation. Ali, the manager, also came by to make sure we were well taken care of and that nothing was missing. You can truly tell he cares about his guests and takes pride in making sure every detail of the experience is exceptional.nnI would highly recommend this place to anyone.
