Visited Ali’s Bon Gusto in downtown Guelph this weekend on a whim after Elora’s Christmas Market—and it turned out to be an excellent decision. True fine-dining quality without any pretence.nnAli the owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, and Rob, our server, was fantastic—great at guiding first-timers, explaining portion sizes, and highlighting the day’s specials. Service and hospitality were top notch.nnWe ordered calamari arrabbiata and bruschetta to start, followed by a mushroom & bacon signature pizza, spaghetti Genovese, and butternut squash gnocchi highly recommended. Drinks were well paired, and desserts—house-made tiramisu and white chocolate ricotta cheesecake—were a perfect finish.nnOpen, clean kitchen, spotless and spacious washrooms, great wine selection, and very fair pricing for the quality. Parking can be a bit tricky, but it’s walkable from public lots.nnDefinitely a place I’ll return to and happily recommend.
We tried Buon Gusto Restaurant this weekend and overall had a nice experience.nThe Crispy Pork Belly was very flavorful and delicious, though it didn’t quite live up to its name as it lacked the crispiness we expected. The Octopus was tasty, but a little on the chewy side. The pizza was spot on — nothing to complain about there. The complementary bread with oil and balsamic vinegar was a nice touch, but it would have been much better with higher quality oil and balsamic, and if the bread had been served warm.nOverall, good food and a pleasant visit, with just a few details that could be improved to make the experience excellent.
We found this amazing restaurant in Guelph we drove from Toronto. We tried all of the pizzas and each one was better than the other. But I have to say it’s worth the drive for their Pistachio pizza!!nIt was so tasty it will be my go to. This could be a great appetizer or main meal. It is definitely a must try item on the menu! So unique so flavourful. Our waitress Deanna was so helpful and pleasant. The owner Ali made us feel so welcomed
We visited Buon Gusto on a Wednesday, and despite being a weekday, the place was quite busy with a lively yet cozy ambiance. We ordered Bruschetta, Toscana Pizza, Mushroom Mafalde, Spaghetti Carbonara, White Chocolate Ricotta Cheesecake, Tiramisu, and a few refreshing drinks like Grapefruit Mojito, Them Apples, Tiramisu Espresso Martini, and Nonna’s On Vacation. Our server, Sarah, was very nice and attentive, checking on us throughout the meal. The drinks were definitely the highlight—well-balanced and delicious. However, the Toscana Pizza was a bit too salty, and the Mushroom Mafalde didn’t quite live up to the menu’s description, as it mentioned three kinds of mushrooms but we could barely taste any. One small issue was that they brought us a second water bottle without asking and charged us for it, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, the food was okay, but we really liked the service and the vibe—me and my boyfriend might visit again for the ambiance and drinks.
A crowd pleaser. Everything our group tried was so flavourful and perfectly cooked. We ordered the Bruschetta, Eggplant Parmiganna, and the Toscana pizza and the Fig Prosciutto pizza. The chef was accommodating about substitutions to make the food vegetarian friendly. Our server was warm and friendly. Looking forward to the next time we're back!
