Loved this place! Got the lash lift and tint by Christina and she was great. Very clear about what she was doing and talked me through everything. The results are amazing too. Definitely will be going back!
Although my stylist was nice, I did not feel like I received "value" for the money spent at the salon. My cut and style was literally 10 minutes, with fairly little amount of consultantation of what can be done with my hair. I spent approx. 90 dollars. I do not mind the price point, I am more so expressing that I did not feel the service that I have received matched what I expected. My ends were somewhat clean, but the length was pretty uneven. She's experienced, yes, but was not interested in serving me as a customer, maybe because it was the end of the day... I did not feel that the stylist understood what I needed. Yes a clean up, but it was not a clean job. I see that the salon does a good job when it comes to complex colouring work, but if you're looking for a cut and style or a hairdresser that will take more initiative towards your hair goals, I simply don't think this is the place. Although I do want to stress that the place was clean, and the stylist was a nice person, courteous. I really wanted to give a five out of five, but what my family and friends have pointed out about my hair the next day was rather not pleasant and quite frankly embarrassing to me that is - i.e. uneven length, given how much I hyped up the place before using it.Service: Hairstyling
A-ma@zing! What a knowledgeable salon owner, and very generous with her time and knowledge. I took my daughter there for her first haircut in our new 'hood, and now plan to book my own cut and colour there too. She gave me a complimentary shampoo so I could trial their special scalp treatment. True customer service.
Lovely looking salon, but I was less than pleased with a situation today. I took my two girls 13 & 7 for haircuts...their first cuts at a grown-up non-kiddie salon. I hadn't been to Brixton Parlour previously, but had walked by a number of times, and thought I would give it a try in my search for a new salon. I made the two consecutive appointments online with one particular stylist. I received an e-mail confirmation as well as a telephone confirmation of these appointments. I arrived with my older daughter first as my younger daughter was across the street at camp. As she was 13 years, she fell into the "adult-pricing" category over $100 before tax/tip for two kids. The stylist cut her hair, and then asked if she wanted it blown dry or left to dry naturally same price regardless of which I chose. When she was done, I left for about 7 minutes to get my younger daughter from across the street. I arrived back at the salon with plenty of time for my second child's appointment, only to be told that another stylist not the one I had made the appointment with would be cutting her hair, as the first stylist was on a "break". This left me bewildered, as I had specifically made the appointments for both girls with the same stylist. When I probed, I was told that the first stylist had "double booked" and had fallen behind, and therefore did not take a lunch break earlier, so was taking this break during my child's scheduled appointment time. BTW...my 7-year old had her hair washed/cut in less than 20 minutes, so I am confused about why the switch was really necessary. Now....this is not to say that I was not pleased with the haircuts, or with the second stylist. I had no reason to believe that the second stylist would be less-than-skilled, as it was my first time to this salon and I hadn't had experience with either of the two stylists. When I expressed confusion, the salon offered to call back the first stylist from break, but at that point I just wanted to: 1 have the cut completed so I could be on my way and 2 not offend the second stylist. So I said that it was not necessary and I allowed the second stylist to cut her hair. This is the main reason I only gave this salon 3 stars, as I felt this was unprofessional and I was left wondering if they would have done the same had the customer been an adult, rather than a 7-year old. I will say that the interior of the salon is lovely, and they stock lovely hair-care products, but because of what happened today, I won't be returning.
I come here with my son regularly for his haircuts. He used to love them and was always given a quality haircut that he liked and asked for. Now that there has been a change of management and a turnover of employees, the quality of haircuts has gone down and my son now does not like to go here. We also have noticed a "heavy" feeling in the air when the manager is around.
