Dined here on a very busy night and despite that, both the food and service were incredible. Our server was very patient with our young kids and made great suggestions to accommodate them. Great selection of craft beer and generous food portions. The sweet potato fries were hands down the best I’ve ever had.
Hats off to the staff last night at The British! It was a table of 12 and the occasion was a special 18th birthday. The celebrated young lady travelled from California to be with us. Lexi looked after us in excellent fashion - bringing out the birthday cake at the perfect time, and there was special technical help provided to us - regrettably I did not get her name but she saved the night. Her help enabled our video and sound to be uploaded onto the TV monitors throughout the restaurant. The patrons saluted the young lady with applause and shouts of Happy Birthday after the video was shown and so she was perfectly feted and somewhat embarrassed! All in all our outing was perfect for the young lady and her family. Oh, and the food was top notch excellent!!
My first time back in over 20 years! Damn this place has changed. Gone are the days of slum dive. Now it's an updated top-notch pub with great fare and a decent brew selection. Wish they had more craft beer though. Although, order a coffee. Awesome roast!
My first time at the British hotel for some beer and food! Had the Mediterranean pizza, which was very good. Great friendly staff, French and English spoken. Prices are good for the size of food you get. Will definitely go back again!
Had the opportunity of dinning with my family at the British on St Patrick's day. The service of our server was great, the food however was not so great, the breading on the fish and chip was like rubber it may have been fried then re-heated in the microwave? the burgers were so so but to be honest we're over priced for the quality, they forgot my daughter's pizza. Our server did his best to remedy our issue but in all honesty I will not be going back.
March 2023 I recently came here for the first time with a friend on St.Patrick's Day, and LOVED it. Great live music performed by the Jon Dale band, and the place was rocking. Check their website as live bands are scheduled every Friday or Saturday night, no cover charge. The place was busy, yet the service was excellent. A single Canadian pizza for $20 was plenty for the two of us to share. This is a gem of a place. A historic building that dates back to 1834. Historic plaques, pictures, and memerobilia is hanging up on the walls. Renovated and reopened in 2016. Absolutely beautiful, and my type of place. We were there at night, so the street parking was free and easy to get.
Great establishment with very interesting history. I always have good service when here. Giving a shout out to Gabriel especially! He's so pleasant and attentive. I always recommend The British to anyone who will listen lol.
We went to the restaurant for lunch. The cauliflower bites were very good, and the squash salad was also light and refreshing. My partner had the vegetarian burger which I'm glad is on the menu but could use some improvements. I wish there was oat milk for coffee since the café next door serves it. All in all, it was a good and pleasant experience.
Great menu choices, wide variety and quite tasty. Beer selection is good with awesome service. Love how they renovated but kept old stone walls and features. Great spot for two or larger groups.
I haven’t had a worst experience at a restaurant. Service was terrible, our party arrived and we didn’t even have enough tables for our reservation 5 seats were missing. We had to chase down the waiters to order our food. To give you an idea, our reservation was for 6:30 and we ended up eating at 8:30. If you’re looking for good service and good food go elsewhere, you won’t get that here.
