Braking Cycles

About

Braking Cycles is a faith based nonprofit dedicated to serving at-risk youth by providing job training in all things coffee, bikes and UpCycled materials.

Story

Did you know Portland is the bike capital of the nation? How about #2 in the world!? Did you know Portland has the only Bike Counter in North America?

Did you know that Portland is also #1 in homeless youth per capita, #1 in sex trafficking, and #1 in meth use?

We believe the best this great city has to offer, is the very platform God will use to reach the darkest...

Through this entrepreneurial endeavor, we will tap into the love and pride of Portland's beautiful bike culture, raise awareness, funding and support to reach the lost and marginalized youth of Portland. Braking Cycles is committed to offering hope and tangible services that will lead to dreams uncovered, where healthy self sufficiency becomes the new cycle.

**Note** Braking Cycles is in process of becoming a 501c3 and is under construction. Even in these first steps, we believe God can and will use us, to reach the youth of this city with the outrageous love of God.

If you are interested in hearing more, and/or becoming a part of Braking Cycles, get in touch with us. We would love to hear from you!

People there are very nice. They help you get a bike that suits your needs. Eric is very friendly and so nice as the other person, too. So knowledgeable!!
The service, coffee, and people at Braking cycles is outstanding! Highly recommend having coffee dates or studying/alone time at Braking Cycles.
Just stopped in because I've seen it by the road. Never knew it was so much more than a coffee shop, it's also a responsible way to give back to the community. Also super comfortable to hang out and use the WiFi. Ask about the penny floors, it's got a story! Not to mention the chai is great!
Nice coffee and good place to relax and read a book.
Great service great coffee
Surprised at how cool the atmosphere was in this cute little community coffee shop! Our drinks were top shelf and we're excited to see what they're doing in our community. A new fav for sure
Very welcoming and cozy. I found my coffee shop!
This is a rad little spot. Cozy and a bit of an old Portland throwback feel. More like being in a friend's living room than a 'Portland coffee shop'. The coffee is local and really good. And the cold brew is bomb. Also, the money is used for such a beautiful cause. ;
Great coffee. Super friendly staff. It's a blessing to spend time there.
