I had to bring in my guinea pig in today and I thought for sure it was my last day with her. Everyone there was so helpful and wonderful. I got to go home with my girl but I have to say they genuinely care about your pets and told me to please email them in a day or two to let them know how she's doing. Wonderful staff!
We took our beloved dog Maggie here who sadly had be euthanized after 16 wonderful years of love, laughter and joy. EVERYBODY there is so over the top caring, compassionate and kind. Words cannot express the gratitude my husband and I feel towards these people. If that wasn't enough, they sent us flowers the next day in memory of our dear little fur baby. Thank you Bowmanville Vet Clinic from the bottom of our hearts.
This is a long one, but worth a read if you're considering going to this vet!! We've been taking our year old bengal to Bowmanville Vet since he was a baby. Unfortunately, he ate something he shouldn't when he was 6 months old. He was vomiting for weeks and it came to a point where he stopped eating altogether. We rushed him to Bowmanville Vet, where they squeezed us in on a very busy Friday. I told them what his symptoms were and what he possibly ate. They requested that I leave him with them for the day so they could do xrays and give him the care he needed. Note that he was extremely dehydrated when I brought him in which I told them. The whole day went by and we finally got a call right before they closed, only to get there to be told that his dehydration was too bad for us to care for him at our house and that there was definitely something stuck in his stomach. We rushed him to the emergency clinic in Peterborough only to be told that the Bowmanville vet did nothing to help his dehydration. They were shocked that he came to them in the state he was in knowing that he was at another clinic the entire day. Goes to show that they likely forgot about him, left him in a kennel, DEHYDRATED until it was time for them to close, and then shipped us off elsewhere. We expressed our concerns and they only wanted to talk to us via phone call assuming so there was nothing in writing. Fast forward another 6 months, my sister's dog ate something she shouldn't have. So my sister goes to Bowmanville. They did the x-rays and told her no questions asked, she has something lodged in her small intestine and needs to go into surgery immediately. I was told they weren't concerned and had an almost 'don't really care' attitude. My sister gets more xrays done at another clinic before the scheduled surgery and they say that there's definitely NOTHING in her stomach but that she has been poisoned. My question is, how does Bowmanville Vet not have the appropriate tools to figure this out!? If the dog went into surgery she very well could have died given the state she was in. This was another situation where Bowmanville didn't provide the care they promised to give. Neglecting our cat and then misdiagnosing my sister's dog. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and called to express my concerns. I talked with a vet technician who was extremely rude and defensive. You'd think they'd want to clear up the situation but instead I was met with nothing but combative behavior. I wasn't directed to the vet or even the clinic manager. THEN two days later they hand deliver me a note that says they will no longer be caring for my pet effective immediately. Which is absolutely absurd because 1. I never planned on going back and I told them that and 2. then didn't even bother coming to a resolution but instead forced me out of their clinic because of the way THEY poorly treated my family's pets. The manager who sent me the note didn't even call me to understand the situation before sending the note. Who runs a business like that!? The moral of the story here is to be cautious of this vet. They clearly don't take criticism or feedback well and are really downright petty. In addition to providing sub-par care.
I was there a few days ago with harley who had gotten attacked by a stray dog everybody at the vet was very very nice and kind and understanding they were great and I appreciate all the help and I feel I owe them my life because my dog is my life. I can’t thank you guys enough for everything you’ve done I will definitely be recommending you to other people in need thank you guys again so very much from the bottom of my heart I have no family of all passed away and my dog is the only thing I have in my world. So hats off thank u soo soo much im very humble
We have been brining my dog here for about a year 2020-2021 now. The staff is amazing but in the year they have given us medication that expired in 2017. Another time gave us half of the medication we paid for. Both times upon calling they did fix it. Just ensure you look over the medication they give.
Dr Stephanie and the rest of the staff are amazing. We had to have 2 hamsters put down and the rest medicated and the compassion and professionalism we received was amazing. It’s very obvious that they care about all animals, even small pets. No other place we called would assist with hamsters, and I’m glad that they do, because I couldn’t imagine dealing with any other vets.
Bowmanville Veterinary Clinic has been my vet for many many years, and they have never let me down. A year ago my 18 year old dog had come to her last days with us, even though we were in the middle of the pandemic, the compassion the staff showed during this already horrible time was more then I could ask for. Now I have a new pup and they didn’t hesitate in taking a new patient, and thank goodness because they truly are her savours. It was like a story you’d think came right out of a movie. My 9month old fur baby cut herself so badly. No shoes, in pjs, I walked into this clinic and without hesitation they jumped into action to help save my girl who was bleeding so badly. They could have easily turned me away but they didn’t and I could not thank the Veterinarian and her techs enough for saving my girl. And for the front staff who helped us stay calm. I couldn’t have asked any better Angels that day and for the aftercare that followed. Thank you to all the Bowmanville Veterinary Staff.
Dr. Yee is very good with my bunny 2 emergency visits now - GI stasis and kidney stones, poor thing, but he's still alive and kicking, and seems to have a lot of experience with rabbits. The techs and receptionists are kind and polite. It's a nice building too - nice exam rooms, and an indoor pond with turtles! There is a small foyer where one can speak with the receptionist, without having to take the bunny into the waiting room with the other animals. FYI, an emergency visit for my rabbit with an examination, lab tests, x-rays, take-home antibiotics and painkillers, and powdered food substitute cost about $750. A previous visit with no lab work or x-rays was about $400 exactly the same as his old vet in Whitby, when I took him there for the same issue. There's no OHIP for bunnies, unfortunately.
Wonderful staff, took really good care of my rabbit Reed! I also really appreciated the constant communication with me the day I came by and for the follow up, it really feels like they care. Would recommend them to anyone!
