The cake it self. I'm not exaggerating when I say we spit out the cake from the first bite because we simultaneously did. The glaze was extremely biter. When I tried to remove the glaze, a red color stain was everywhere spouses, fingers and for one clothes for few days. Even after I tried to wash it off. The inside cake didn't taste anything except for the ricotta and even that wasn't the best I've tasted. The cake they gave me tasted like watery milk with little touch of sugar, some what of ricotta and biter glaze. The cake finished in the garbage. A family member went out and by another cake That was frustrating I've send an email stating the situation and no answer a month later. I guess they have their money and doesn't care about client satisfaction. For a pastry that host grand events, I don't understand. Do I have to believe that my order wasn't grand enough for them to give me a decent cake ? I seriously thought that I would love their cakes. I've been following their Instagram page for a few. Ordering it self and everything surrounding it. Everything went OK when I placed the order. Polite welcoming . I've made few changes via email and had to call to make sure they've received it because no answer was provided via mail although they say to contact them via mail. The day of the delivery, I called them to know if the order was ready for pickup. Now when I think about it, it was odd. When the young lady brought out the cake, I wasn't " wow'ed " by it, but it looked ok. Not enough to say yes when she asked me if I wanted her to write something on it. Have to say that when my mom saw it, the first thing she said was, " What's that? The cake looks cracked". It wasn't really, but the finishing look made it look kind of cracked. It goes without saying, but I don't recommend that place. Do not be fooled by their pictures like I was.
So I should probably start by saying THANK YOU to Jennifer and the team at Montebello! After a lot of research and tastings we decided to get our wedding cake done here and we are repeat customers eversince at Montebello because of the following reasons. The cakes are so good! The are not loaded with sugar a lot of bakerys make sugar filled cakes to compensate for the lack of taste and you can't even finish a slice because it's so bad , they are the perfect balance of cream fruit and cake. We always get the Ricotta cheese with blueberry and straberrys and they are appreciated by all our guests! The one in the picture with Olivia written on it it was a great hit aswell, mango, pineapple and Ricotta !As you can tell by the pictures, there is a lot of effort in these cakes, they look amazing! They also have great Bread, focaccia and small pizzas! Give them a call and they will become your go to bakery!
Used this bakery for my sisters wedding which is due for tomorrow. I was previously warned against using their services for Desserts however, I decided to go ahead anyway. I should have listened to both personal and google reviews. Initial service was good, I felt listened to and I thought what I had asked for was well understood. However for a hefty price, once I received my order, the pastries I ordered were not what I was given. The store insisted I was given what I had asked for, their attitude was defensive and not customer oriented. I strongly recommend to not use this Shop for large orders due to poor communication and recurring mixups. Don’t waste your time money or energy.
Nice "mom'n'pop" place, small, family owned, tasty pastries, didn't respond to my email order for 2 weeks, so I went elsewhere. Their custom orders are VERY expensive when compared to other similar establishments. Their in-store pastries are also not cheap. I gave them 4 stars because the flavours were nice and so were the staff/owners but I won't be going back because it's too far, too pricey and not "special" enough to warrant the trip.....but if you live in the area or happen to be passing through the neighborhood then I suggest you give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
Using this bakery for my wedding was a very unpleasant experience. Very poor communication and when they do they send numerous blank emails. I hired them 2 years ago and had to cancel due to covid, so a  deposit was made and I made previous purchases using the deposit/store credit. No final price was given to me until 2 days before my wedding. They threatened to not deliver my cake unless I pay, so I went ahead and paid in full. The cake arrived an HOUR late to my wedding, we were left waiting on the cake. I paid a hefty travel fee as well. When I called them, I was met with NO apology,  only a bad attitude and a ton of unacceptable excuses that made zero sense. When my cake finally arrived, it was not done correctly and was not what we agreed upon. Please do not hire this bakery for your wedding, it will be an unnecessary stress and put a bad taste in your mouth. The way you're spoken too is very belitting to the point I can't be bothered to call back and let them know the cake wasn't done correctly. Zero professionalism. Very disappointing.
Great bread and a nice variety of pastries and cold cuts.
I ordered a strawberry shortcake with choc cake What a disappointment My 15 yr old niece makes a better cake Was an embarrassment at the party Will never use again. Attitude galore Tried requesting a quote on site No answer I was hoping this would be my new go to pastry shop but not now Good luck to you
Called for cake for My daughter birthday and was asked to send an email, it's been to weeks and I have not received a answer or call. Judging other reviews and on how unprofessional it is not to give your clients the time of day. I'm definitely not going back
My first experience and will most probably be my last. I went to the bakery today, with one person ahead of me. Despite having several other staff there, I was only greeted and served once the client ahead of me finished and paid for her order approx 15-20 min wait. I purchased 2 baguettes to enjoy with some home made chili I had made for this evening's dinner. Disappointingly enough, the baguettes were rock hard. My fiance was shocked when I told him it was "fresh bread" from the bakery. You could literally pound the bread on the counter, and it was solid. If a bakery can't get a simple FRESH baguette right, what gives me confidence in their pastries and dessert?
Service was great. Pastries are wow
