My recent trip to Bon Echo Provincial Park was nothing short of spectacular. The natural beauty of the park is exceptionally well-preserved and maintained, offering a pristine escape into the great outdoors. Whether you're into camping, sunbathing on the beach, or hiking for breathtaking views, this park has it all. The availability of parking, canoe rentals, and paddle equipment adds to the convenience. It's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a serene and adventurous getaway in nature.
One of the best provincial parks and my favorite as well. Definitely high in demand and requires booking 3+ months in advance. Not sure about walk in spots, if they have it or how many. Hiking and canoeing near the rock is great during day or sunset. Other hiking trails are okay. Overall great camping option. Nearby activities: Kayaking, camping , canoeing Walkability: Beach
I had an absolutely wonderful experience at bon echo. The location was amazing and was very picturesque. The campsite was large and flat which made it easy to setup my things. There was 2 beaches that I saw that were well kept and overlooked very nice views. There was an option to kayak, canoe or paddle board to some very interesting pictographs. There was also options for hiking; both hikes I went on were very nice and there was a very cool feature for one where you had to canoe to it! Both hikes felt quite private which was nice. Also, staff were all very friendly. The only negative I have to say is the wood sold to us at the campsite was wet and made it difficult to start a fire. Other then that, it was a really great experience.
Car camped at this provincial park and the experience was fantastic. The campsites are well laid out and most provide good shade and areas to set up camp without many rocks. The bathrooms and showers were very clean and the water from the shower was perfectly warm for a nice early morning shower. The areas without radio are great if you want to get closer to nature without portaging or hiking a long time. I highly recommend canoeing, kayaking or paddle boarding. Getting close to the cliffs and admiring the Canadian Shield was a fantastic way to decompress. Safety: Very safe, calm, and quiet
We absolutely LOVED everything about this park. The roads were well maintained for little bikers. The trails were beautiful and wide. The hike to the cliff top was phenomenal, with stairs so the kids didn’t struggle. The sites were private. The facilities were nice. The staff were AMAZING. Shout out to Megan who seems to run a lot of the kids programs/shows. We’ve been to 18 provincial parks, and this is the top of the list with Pancake Bay. We will absolutely be returning.
An absolutely amazing place to spend a week/weekend camping. Fantastic hiking trails exploring most of the park. Gift shop is rustic and fits perfectly with the rest of the park. All the staff members were lovely, knowledgable and friendly. Prices are great for water craft rentals $40 8hrs canoe and $50 for two paddle boards for 4hrs. I highly recommend the 21km canoe trip, was the highlight of our weekend. Can't wait to come back and explore more next year.
Bon Echo has been on the list for us to visit/camp at for a while and it did not disappoint. We went for the thanksgiving long weekend and the park was not as busy as I was expecting it to be. We camped at the sawmill bay campground and we have a campsite with access to the lake. It was beyond beautiful. There are only a few hikes available that aren’t back country and one of them mazinaw cliff top trail you need to broad over by platoon or kayak over, this trail is a must see especially in the fall season. It has spectacular views from the top. Overall the campgrounds are well kept along with the bathrooms. Very clean and everyone that works their we encountered was super nice.
Super clean and well maintained. Washrooms are always spotless. They clean the comfort station everyday campsites are clean and quiet. For renting canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards they have it on-site so you can go to the lake side and rent. It gets really crowded from 10am in the morning.
A really nice park. Stayed in one of the yurts for the first time. Nice accommodations for roughly 4 people. The main beach was really nice. Nice big roped off area with plenty of room for swimming and paddle boarding. I had no idea you couldn't drink alcohol at the beach area. Was warned by a park warden not to drink. Would have been nice to post signage to warn people about this instead of telling people it's common knowledge not to drink at a beach area. Other than that, a great stay and beautiful park. Would go back again for sure in the future.
Bon Echo is definitely my favourite Provincial Park so far. It is absolutely stunning. The trails are nice, the view is gorgeous. The dog beach and trail are amazing. The rangers drive around but don't bother anyone. All of the employees were kind and knowledgeable
