What a wonderful discovery!!! We were in town for a short visit and were looking for a spot where we might find some good food. We went in expecting an old pub but it was fresh and relaxing and the food was so delicious. Portion size was just right, quality and presentation of the food was exceptional - I have never had tartar sauce taste so good it has a hint of garlic. The servers and gentleman who spoke with us as we left were attentive, friendly and just so pleasant. They had a lot of little touches which add to a dining experience - such as pepper and salt mills, a bottle of water so we didn’t have to wait for a server to go by if we wanted more water, a little oil type lamp, flowers on the table, and the whole place was just well laid out with relaxing colour schemes. Even their chairs slid effortlessly on the floor. It was a strange thing to notice but I was aware of it and it made a difference. We went for lunch but had a peek at the dinner menu and will be going back the next time we are in town. They have an awesome patio overlooking the river that was too cold to enjoy at this point but definitely once the warmer weather is here. Even the washrooms were bright, clean and smelled fresh. Our son even noticed that although they have been in operation only a few years they have already won awards. Well done Board n’ Barrel!!!’
Not gonna lie, walked in expecting an average restaurant, and was pleasantly surprised with a really nice experience. Food was absolutely top notch, I had the steak sandwich with truffle fries and it was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. Music was a little loud for my liking. Nitpicking a bit, but I felt the sauce on the steak Which was very good, mind you kind of overpowered the taste of the steak, but other than that it was fantastic. Will be back next time I'm in Peace River.
In town for work and by far the best dining experience I've had in Peace River. The steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth and the lamb was so tender and moist. I would have never thought a restaurant like this would exist in a small town. Would highly recommend this place and if it was feasible I would make the 5 hr commute from Edmonton for that lamb. Servers were very polite and helpful navigating the menu. I think a branch needs to open in Edmonton so we can enjoy these phenomenal dishes
This place doesn't need more outstanding reviews, but it earns it! The atmosphere, great service, and amazing food and drink make it awesome. But then you add the setting on the water and they would do well in any large market! I am from out of town and this was my first visit to B&B. One of the owners, Kelly was delivering drinks and stopped a couple times to chat which was very enjoyable. They have it dialed in!
Great food with covered and heated patio overlooking the Peace. Filet done to perfection with local grown veg and the Flatbread was excellent. Needs a better wine selection for by the glass serving. Local beers available though.
I've had really good and really bad experiences here I believe the bad was just growing pains early on and they have really leveled out in terms of great food. The atmosphere is fabulous . Now just maybe step up the dress code for your staff and you'll have the whole package. It's a real disconnect to have high end menu high end atmosphere and staff looking like they don't fit in the atmosphere. jeans and tees are a disconnect and I have a difficult time valuing the attempt at a high end establishment when the staff is so poorly dressed
Hands down the best place to eat in the Peace. Service was fantastic. Was served by one of the owners and you can truly see his passion for the business. Best pasta dish I have had in my life.
Had a great time eating here. Service was fast with friendly staff and the food was delicious. Plenty of authentic/neat choices on the menu and lots of gluten free options as well! Had the maple bacon burger and it was more than a lot of other restaurants offer- had a genuine homemade taste to it! Wish it would have came with lettuce and tomato, but that's just personal preference . Great views from the heated patio-due to current restrictions it was outdoor dining only. Will come back!
