Awesome trail, ended up doing 15km loop, definitely a more challenging hike, the first 5km seemed to be all hills and up hill/rock climbing. Beautiful views up high, and water views down low. One of my favorite hikes to do so far. It is very easy to get lost off the trail when climbing the rocks, really have to follow and look for the colored tags when you’re hiking. I wouldn’t recommend if you’re brand new to hiking and to stick to the easiest trail yellow and to bring lots of water on the warm days.
an awesome trail network for running/hiking with various options for different distances, with the shortest being around 7km. very well marked at junctions and trail maps posted throughout. definitely quite technical, so trail/hiking shoes are probably a good idea.
Flipping love this trail. Parking can be unique, but in saying that the trail is challenging enough to keep it interesting. The view when you reach the summit is stunning. Be aware that there are four trails, the first one is really well marked, well-established, well walked. The second is marked but sometimes confusing might go over a rock hill and not find a path then turn around and see a blue marker. The third and fourth I've never been on. However, bring water and extra fresh socks. Some food, and dress for the weather. Enjoy the trail.
This is a very well Maintained Trail, moderate difficulty for a hike and beautiful views. Well worth checking this area out. Several different hikes if you want to explore further and longer too.
I am compelled to give this location 5 stars just because most of the great trails don't have actual parking and you end up parking at the side of the road or something. It still has a sign that says at your own risk but still awesome to have this as an option. Tip : If you're wanting to head to the loops go right at this entry way. It's about 600m in. Great view as well from the bridge.
Such an awesome walking trail with options to hike through the woods...BEAUTIFUL!!
First time on this trail..I loved how you can do an easy or hard trail..And the lake is very easy accessible if you like a swim or paddle..
I love this trail. There are a series of loops. You can do 5 km, 7 km, or there is even one that is 32 km. That one would be a 2 day camping trip. It's amazing how many great hiking trails we have within a short drive of the city.
Perfect for getting out anytime of year for a small hike or do all 4 loops...and its close to city
Hiking trails throughout the Bluff Wilderness area are top notch with amazing views from natural landscape. The four loops allow you to pick your distance, and give you many different landscapes as your move through the park. Going from rock-hopping to lakeside walks and back up for a hilltop view are all part of the journey. The trails are almost always obvious with blazes and rocks pointing you in the right direction. There is always a full park map at each intersection so you can't make a wrong turn. The opening rail trail is a generously wide crush stone path for walkers, runners and cyclists to move about. The entrance to the four loops is about half a kilometer from the parking lot and starts out more challenging than the average trail terrain. If you're planning to go farther than the Pot Lake Loop first loop, I would suggest proper hiking shoes and apparel, a couple litres of water and a solid lunch. You'll be tired by the end with a big smile on your face. *Disclaimer: I haven't done the last loop of the trail, but have seen the designated campsites in flat areas along the trail. Happy hiking!
