Great layout! Fabulous walking course. Super fun staff. The views are spectacular. Driving range and plenty of putting and chipping practice areas. Always priced fairly. In the summer 19th hole can be the open tent to sit in the shade and enjoy being outdoors or sit inside with lots of glass to enjoy the views.
Had a great round after work, played the blue 9, walked it, for the first day open it was awesome, early in the season and the greens seemed well kept. Definitely need to come back and play the rest of the 18 other holes, have a plan to play it later this week even, that's how much I enjoyed playing here. There was not a lot of people after work today, but I am sure it's pretty busy during the regular season, will have to keep updated. The staff was more than friendly to me also, very nice place, lots to golf and looks like they had a funny restaurant, mulligans, not sure how the food is, but will have to try a sandwich sometime, good to know there is other stuff nearby, not too far out of Avon at all, quick walk even from center of town
Three nine hole courses in the Farmington River valley, and the river runs right through the golf course. Lots of variation re the holes, especially on the Red nine and the White nine. High handicappers can play here but the course is challenging enough for all levels of golfers. Scenery is great, too because it's right near the western base of Talcott Mountain, a 200 million year old massive lava flow. Lots of trees on the course, some interesting wildlife, and the cultivated flowers here and there really add to the beauty of the scenery. I play here just about every week.
Course in average shape. Greens were quicker than I anticipated. In need of mowing in many areas off fairway. Very hard to find balls in deep, thick clover clusters. Fairways and green in decent shape.
Fun course, very affordable, and with the three courses walk ins are never a problem. the only knock might be that the course can be a little wet at times when we get a lot of rain.
It’s been a while since last playing here. And while I’d like to give the benefit of the doubt that I was playing very early in the season, this will be my last time going to Blue Fox Run. The conditions continue to deteriorate and it’s only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured. Fairways are junk, greens have lots of damage and they still haven’t fixed the drainage issues causing them to finally abandon one of the greens. The there’s the bridges…nearly all are, or have, fallen down. This course should be forced to shut down until they make it safe.
Good place to practice. Course is decent shape, if you get a bad lie just roll it over. Laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Usually pace is good since they have 3 nines, and layout is good for all types of golfers. Course has gorgeous views of the Farmington river and surrounding mountains.
I love this course. Good layout, beautiful views. Most courses in the Farmington Valley had some damage with the back to back storms in late August/early September but it looks like they are doing a great job repairing it! Staff is very friendly food is delicious!
Beautiful setting, course is just average. Lot of golf traffic and slow play, but for $30 on a Friday in September, it’s to be expected. With a little better maintenance, could be a special track. No signs on tees to show hole layout, yardage, etc. Played from the blue tees, very fair test. Played White then Blue for 18 as a walker. If you’re in shape, it’s a good course to walk. Worth checking out for sure.
I play here once or twice a week when the season is open, and I feel like alot of these reviews are over the top. They got new carts last year which are beautiful, the twighlight price can't be beat especially because many times they just let you play as many holes as you can get in. The layout is awesome, though if you're not familiar with it can be confusing. As for the conditions, yes unfortunately people are right, when we don't get much rain the fairways on the white and red courses do burn out and are hard, but Im not sure they have an irrigation system on them. The blues are generally lush. The Tee boxes are fine my only qualm there would be they don't have good yardage indicators, but everyone uses course books or phone applications anyway and if you don't have/use a yardage scope than you are likely one of the people slowing down play anyway.
