This place is beyond unreal. As a person who refuses to frequent "BBQ" places outside of central Tejas, I must say that Blue Door is the real deal. I have been here dozens of times, and it is consistently outstanding. The staff and owners are delightful people. If you're going on a game day, get there early! Try the following items... 1. The brisket sandwich. Get it fatty or wet cut. Get it with coleslaw. Do NOT use any sauce. It doesn't need sauce since it's real brisket BBQ. 2. Any meat platter. Brisket and ribs are a good combination. Use the bread and pickles.
We ate here for the first time recently. The staff was super friendly and the BBQ was delicious. Their spicy sauce was awesome as well. This is a tiny BBQ place with limited seating and lines out the door. We saw multiple to go orders being processed while we were there. They do have a limited menu. Unfortunately, none of their side items appealed to me but that is just personal preference. Would still highly recommend.
I went out of my way to drive over 30 miles from Mount Sterling to Lexington to get food from the Blue Door Smokehouse. I have heard that they have great food so I was excited for it. I was absolutely disappointed beyond anything that I can describe to you. It was truly awful. I love BarbQue and this was not good at all. I had the pork plate with the Ranch beans and vinegar slaw. My girlfriend had the sandwich with greens and vinegar slaw. We were both disappointed and ended up throwing most of it away. The bark on a good smoked pork is usually wonderful and my favorite part. This bark was crunchy and tasted awful. I don't know if it was a bad day or if they had a bad supply, but I will not find out.
Absolutely amazing. First order of business when I get into Lexington is to go to Blue Door Smokehouse. Brisket is absolutely amazing. I also like to get shredded chicken sometimes and the dry rub that they put on top is mouth wateringly good. The folks here deliver outstanding customer service. They deserve five stars on friendliness alone. The pulled pork is juicy and is perfectly seasoned blend of smokiness and spicy. The potato salad and cole slaw were delicious. There is no indoor seating at this establishment. But they do have two tables outside. They do a brisk business here.
Passed through and stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Got the pulled pork and pulled chicken sandwich, with coleslaw, potato salad, a lemon orange soda, and the chess bar. The pulled pork sandwich was absolutely incredible. The entire meal was delicious, but I could have eaten a pound of that pulled pork. Friendly staff, great customer service, phenomenal food
Definitely one of the best bbq experiences I’ve ever had. We got the ribs and brisket! Mind blowingly good. The coleslaw and potato salad were awesome, too! We are from Wisconsin and here for a conference, will definitely come back next year!
First thing that comes to mind is...HOLY COW!!!! Just flew in from NC and wanted to hit up a local spot, found Blue Door Smokehouse as a local favorite and had great reviews so why not right? I'm 46 years old and to this day this might have been the best decision I've ever made lol. Didn't really know what to order and the nice gentleman at the counter suggested the sampler and that it would be cheaper than getting 2 meals anyways and would be more than enough food to feed just the 2 of us. Well, as you can see from the picture we had plenty because that was our leftovers! If you're in Lexington this is a "must go to" spot.
Fabulous pulled pork and vinegar slaw. Potato salad was pretty good too. Very friendly service. Highly recommend as a hole in the wall experience.
Hands down best BBQ I’ve had! Got the pulled pork and added sweet and spicy sauces. SO GOOD!! Will definitely be back!
