The staff was a great help and Pooja guided me really well. but the website could be more clear on the documents needed as I was asked to bring back a copy of my PR card back page on the spot. Also I guess a $12 dollar tip was automatically added for taking their extra time?? The amounts on 2 receipts are different and I don't mind paying but I need to know what I paid for that's all.
Edit: Elsa attended me and got my work done smoothly. However, the waiting line system is still flawed. If you don't have an appointment, don't waste your time standing in the walk-in queue as I did on 7 July and 30 June. Both the time, I reached at 6:30 in the morning, I was 18-22 person in the queue, the first person came at morning 4 AM and the worst thing that happened was NOT EVEN A SINGLE PERSON WENT INSIDE. Those who have an appointment only they were allowed and they too had a long waiting line. As the BLS Toronto shows next two months are booked for the appointment. There is almost 1% chance of getting your work done. Its better to try BLS Brampton which shows waiting till 15 Aug. The staff inside is courteous but they should tell people standing outside to go home.
Edit: BLS added the appointment system but besides it you go there, take a token and wait. Also, there are multiple people with the same time slot as your appointment. my officer Elsa was experienced and knew the process thoroughly. Its a rip off as well at BLS cause they made total to $182 for passport surrender adding some additional fees and they keep rejecting your photo to make money. I saw the officer said the same things to person after me to get new picture and somehow get xerox. For 1 page of xerox they billed me $4, then there is some $6 charge don’t know what for. When I asked they didn’t explained rather said it will be in the receipts which doesn’t have any details. Its a big rip off! Someone please explain me why I’m paying $6 service fee three times when the service fee already added in the main billing
Lines and crowd were not good at all. Mostly everyone doing their job well but management must organize it better. There are only 4 working counter which is not enough for the crowd lining up outside of building from 2-3am. If there is a single mistake in your application, they won’t spare you by send you back home and ask for come back again and again. They won’t ask you about what’s your preference to pick up or courier your passport, if you have more than 1 application it’s much better to pick up your visa coz they send courier individually. Management should add more man power to faster the process and E-visa must resume, Indian government should consider about it. Make life easier for common people not just think of making money by privatization of all departments like this.
**Not biased review** Officer Zeenat was great..helped thru the process and gave the right advice. The problem with people saying bad about the staff in reviews is simply because their work is not done because of their own mistake of not getting the right docs and being shunned out of the office because of bad language. They come without an appointment, have to wait for hours, they use bad language I have seen this personally and expect to be serviced. No visa service centre takes walk ins anywhere but here, so they are literally doing a favour by taking walk ins. And then the walk ins expect it's their birth right to shout and get services here because they have been waiting. When you come as a walk in be prepared to wait long hours or at times not be taken inside. Just use basic common sense, why would they take walk ins when they are already overbooked on appointments. I agree, the office is small and they need to resize the space to accommodate more customers and appointments, but as a walk in it's only a favour on you if you are taken in. We are not stupid to book appointments ahead in time and preplan everything and then we have these walkins who decide at the drop of a hat that they want to visit India except emergencies and it's their fault that they didn't plan to get things set in motion for OCI/ renewal of passport etc before hand Recommend to come with an appointment only. If you have an appointment, come only 15mins before the designated time and go to the main door and let the security know. Walk in folk I met were waiting since 11pm since previous night. Not recommended unless absolutely essential. I had gone to renew passport of my minor son. It is not mentioned on the website or these attached photos anywhere, but the mother and father of the minor child need to sign below the left hand thumb print of the child on the application form on page 3. Also don't forget to sign in annexure E under the child's thumb print. These are essential, else incase only one parent comes for the appointment at the BLS office, you will have to go back incase you don't have both the parents signature on the form in the right place. Also tally these list of documents on the pictures as well as the website for the complete list of documents. The list on website does not mention COPR but it was required for our application. Hope these pointers help.
Ms Zeenat was fabulous and very helpful. She helped us to submit Visa applications for our family and with great ease. She is very knowledgeable and amazing at what she does. BLS Toronto is lucky to have her! Try to reach earlier if possible. Depending on the already scheduled appointments, only the first 40 people or so in the line could get their turn on a given day. Parking in the plaza is free. Take a beach chair with you if you plan to sit while waiting in the line. Also, take a water bottle, umbrella and a snack in case you need it. Make sure you fill the form without any mistakes. They may not allow making a lot of changes to the application and you may have to resubmit your application if a lot of changes need to made. The photos have to be in a prescribed format as well. You can apply for an Entry or Tourist visa at the same time while submitting the Passport surrender application. You will not be able to submit the OCI application at the same time as the surrender certificate is needed for the same. Please carry all originals and make sure you have copies. If you forget to take a copy, do not panic. BLS staff will help you to get a copy. It is taking 30 days for a Tourist visa, 45 days for an Entry visa and almost 60 days for an OCI so please plan accordingly. If you have an urgent travel need, make sure to get a print out of your ticket or itinerary along with you application.
Lovely experience. Elsa and the lady on counter no 2 were very supportive. Specially Elsa, she is very patient and knowledgeable. This a great improvement from the last time I visited. The procesess can be made slightly faster as well.
It is very embarrassing for an organization run for Indian government and treat its own people bad!!! Website mentions walk-in welcome. I went to the location and found, since "I didn't have an appointment, so I have to wait outside cold -25°C in a line. If my work is important for me to freeze to death, then I get my work done." Else you can go. That's what the security said. I asked if there is a waiting room/QUEUE OR TOKEN SYSTEM TO ALLOW TIMESLOTS or let me know if I won't be able to get an appointment. But the rude response and "inte mein inta hi mileage attitude" NO RESPECT FOR YOUR OWN PEOPLE, BY AN ORGANIZATION RUN in alliance with INDIAN Government. Get better infrastructure for its people. And don't let any private organization take money by scamming Indians with forced courier appointments and purposely wronged rejections, fees and other additionally forced services
Lavanya mam help me throughout my process and she is very helpful. They don’t take walk in so, make sure you book your appointment first. Staff was good but some people just walk in without appointment and argue with security to let them take in. They literally create scene over there and then security had to call 911. Please don’t do that. Please don’t waste other people time who done their work in advance and make an appointment in advance. And be ready to wait minimum for 1.5hr with appointment too.
Today, I had an appointment for my passport renewal, officer Elsa was handling my case and she was very kind and helpful. She made me understand all the requirements for the proper submission of my passport, and helped me get my application submitted quickly and in a smooth manner. Great service.
