The Block House Cafe is located in the heart of Dayton, Oregon across from the city park in the recently restored and renovated 1886 Baptist church.

Story

The Block House Cafe is located in the Dayton First Baptist church constructed in 1886. The church has undergone a sensitive and meticulous restoration with an addition on the back (kitchen). The Block House Cafe serves breakfast and lunch with dinners and later hours on Friday nights. Come and enjoy our signature cinnamon roll pancakes or a hand pressed burger with local grass fed beef. Our espresso is locally roasted in Newberg, Oregon and all of our dishes are prepared fresh and to order.

Love the food here. Usually a nice atmosphere but today there was apparently fall cleaning was taking place. Sat at bar and watched people scurrying around cleaning chairs, which made a lot of noise as they slammed them around. So much for a nice relaxing breakfast. Waitress was very inattentive. Cleaning seemed to rate higher than the customers this particular day.. there were tables reserved the whole time we were there, which was more than an hour and no one showed in that amount of time.. (why we sat at the bar)

Excellent, very unexpected in such a small town. Our group enjoyed the French Dip and burgers. In a beautifully restored and updated old church building.

Love this place. Alot of memories of it from back when it was an active church. More so when it was an ice cream shop!!

It's not a bad place. We've loved everything we've tried and can't wait to try more! I love the old church vibe and small-town feel. The only downsides: It's pricey. My husband and I shared a salad and each had our own entree and it was $40 bucks (no alcohol drinks). But it's hard to find a place that doesn't make him sick, so it was worth it. The service can be a little slow, depending on what day you visit, but if you don't have anything else to do and a good quality meal is worth the price once in a while, you won't be disappointed!
