Objectively speaking, it's soft serve; you know what to expect. The flurries are really good, and the choices are amazing, but again, it's basically a better, cheaper Dairy Queen. One thing that stands out is that when the incredibly detailed chalkboard says a cone costs $1.50, it includes tax, so a one dollar bill and two quarters works perfectly. The portions are also monstrous. It's amazing.

The real reason that the Blast is so great, in my mind at least, is its location and its landmark status in Owatonna. It's right by a bike path that leads to a park and runs along a river, and it's a place where people congregate. I can't go there without seeing somebody that I know, and there's something comforting about it.

Some of that magic may be lost on non-Owatonna natives, but there's still the soft serve, and as I said, it's really good.

Love the portion sizes and prices.  Just as good as it was when I lived in town. A go to if you are in town.

Great ice cream!  I recommend the cookie jar, cookie dough,  and fudge brownie.

Blast has an extensive menu, friendly staff and wonderful location. We pulled off I-35 after driving all the way from TX that day and found it well worth the stop: close to both the interstate and a nature area, in a walkable part of town.
