We had lunch on a bright but wintery Saturday. We had made reservations but none were required, it was not busy. I had the Stilton Cheesecake with greens, tabouleh and chutney a special of the day while my partner had the Fettuccine with Mushrooms, Lemon, Black Tiger Shrimp, Parmigiano & Tarragon-Pistachio Pesto a regular menu item. We had a couple of nice wines and enjoyed our meals. The chef/owner and server were very friendly, very helpful. The chef caught us on our way out to serve a little, hot from the oven, cherry tart as an amuse bouche. He tells us the restaurant has been in business 27years. We've been many times over the years and have always been impressed. It's well off the restaurant row area of town -- it's in a quiet older neighborhood but well worth a visit. Oh yes, they have a deli attached next door. We bought some gourmet pasta and will be back to buy a savory cheescake to impress our dinner guests.
We enjoyed an exceptional dinner in December 2022. From the cocktails to the entrees to the dessert, the food was excellent. The risotto was properly prepared to order - not commonly found in many “Italian” restaurants. To make the experience complete, the server was very attentive and made us feel welcome.
We had three dishes for dinner and all were terrible. Bizarre combination of spices on the pasta and low quality meat coupled with poor preparation Also incredibly boring ambiance Only redemptive aspect was the service. Our waitress was a nice attentive woman. Would advise against going here until they start preparing better food. How hard is it to Google some quality fine dining recipes and replicate them? I don’t get it
After hearing amazing things about Blackfriars catering my fiance and I immediatly contacted them in hopes they could do our wedding. 3 weeks and 3 follow ups later we finally heard back from them. Only to be told by Betty they aren't the right fit for us because our wedding doesn't have a kitchen. We have contacted 30+ caterers and they are all very much willing to work with us without a kitchen and easily came up with a plan. It seems like Blackfriars just couldn't be bothered. The Most entertaining part of the quote was not all staff drive so it's the client's responsibility to pay for a rental vehicle for them to get the the venue. Again 30+ caterers and these are not normal fees. It's not the client's responsibility to find you a ride. I love that the owners response to all negative reviews is "we are still recovering from covid" but they can't be bothered to reply to emails and end up turning down weddings. We are happy to give someone else our business who has more of a passion for what they do.
First thing. Food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We had the beef tenderloin and the salmon and the taste was exquisite. The decor resembles an outdoor cafe but indoors, with white garden-style mosaic tables and chairs. The art work is contemporary and certainly a focal point. Service is slow. We struggled to get out in under two hours and tables are very close together. If you love eavesdropping, this is the spot for you. Though slow, staff is friendly and overall it was a nice experience. Lunch for two with a glass of wine each with tip was $80+
Excellent lunch, cozy spot. The green pepper pate and carrot marmalade were to die for! Love that they now have a retail shop next door and I was able to purchase some to take home.
Ate here years back, and honestly I still remember it with extremely great thoughts about how excellent both the food and service was. I hear nothing but great stuff from my clients who eat here...will definitely make an sincere effort to come back.
The food is simply spectacular, one of the best in london. The service is great, food is reasonable price. I would totally recommend trying out this restaurant if you haven't yet.
Grilled Cheese Sandwich, from the Lunch Menu, is amazing. The bread is crispy and crunchy. The cheese is gooey and chewy. I ate the whole thing. And... the sandwich is served with home-made soup.
Dinner at the Blackfrairs Bistro is a complete experience. The food is terrific and the service was outstanding, thanks to Tracy's personal attention.
