I was on my way to Torch Lake and was on the Ohio On Tap app to see what breweries I could hit up in the way. I decided to stop at Black Frog because they weren’t open on Sunday. The place is very small but I actually really like that! The regulars that were there were very nice and welcoming! The owner is former military Army Veteran and started the brewery as a hobby! During the Covid shut down all the regulars started a GoFundme to help keep Black Frog running! So that alone shows you the loyalty his regulars have! He has a mug club that I wish I lived closer so I could participate in! I did a flight and every beer I had was awesome! If you haven’t stopped in or tried this little brewery I highly suggest it!
Talk about a delightful surprise. We were overnighting in Toledo and this brewery was suggested as a place for really good beers. They weren’t wrong. Beers were crisp, clean, complex, and delicious. Thank you for sharing your craft with the rest of us!

This place is amazing. The owner is personable and friendly. He’s a huge Star Wars guy and once you get him started on that, he’s so amazingly entertaining. I do not drink beer, but there is a variety of water and pop there. The clientele is friendly and very interactive. I’ve spent several hours there with people I’ve never met before. And I’ve loved every minute of it.
The Brewmaster has made some amazing beer. It is a very comfortable taproom. My personal taste switched between the Smooth Smoke Homey Smoke Porter and the Honey Smack Brown Ale. Say hello, try a flight of four great beers, meet friendly regulars, and... may the force be with you! ;
Greaat brews, very friendly owner and brewer. Double IPA and American Brown Ale were on point. Chris has done a great job building his brewery up for the last 5 years. An outdoor space with a few tables would be fantastic to make it dog freindly. Thank you, my veteran brother, we had a great time.
Awesome beer! The owner is great, and the other patrons are hilarious! Check out their Tag-a-Brew tags! Also on the 419 Ale Trail. Wonderful local brewery!
Loved this place! We stopped in on a weekend trip to Toledo and I'm so glad we did. The owner was so nice and so was everyone in the place. If we lived in the area I know we'd be regulars! My husband loved the Flying Frog IPA and I absolutely loved the Whistling Wheat. I'm glad to see this place doing well because they really do make great beer. I would have liked to try more of the beers but we just didn't have the time. They don't serve food but there are several food places in the area that you can get food from and I assume bring it into the brewery. We will be back, for sure. It's not too far from Cleveland!
My wife and I enjoy trying out different breweries. We had just finished up Christmas shopping last night. She googled breweries near our location. I had heard of Black Frog Brewery but had no idea where it was. We were less than 5 minutes away. It is a hidden gem in Holland. I had the Smooth Smoke Porter and it is fantastic and the Ebenezer which is a winter ale and solid as well. Let me just say Chris is doing things right in many ways. I know this was only my first time here but the beer was great. The owner obviously is good at the art of brewmastering. The regular customers not only love his beer but they love him as a friend. If you love great beer, love to laugh and want to support a former Army veteran then this is the place! I will definitely be stopping back in the future!
