We found this place from google maps. The website was not working and there was no operating hours added. We still went as it comes as one of the top breakfast places in the search near Minneapolis. It is 9:04am and they are closed. Even though there was somebody inside, noone opened the door and answered if they will open or not. No sign, no response, nothing.
The savory waffle from Birchwood is always a top priority for me when I visit Minneapolis. I love that the flavors change with the seasons, but its consistently delicious. Even if I go with the intention of trying something, I always get the savory waffle and never regret. The coffee is delicious as well. Love the atmosphere this place.
So good, fresh, and amazing! The lines are super long around 10-11am on weekends, but the line calms down around noon. They do bring you coffee while you wait in line though, so that's a treat. The avocado toast and waffles were great! Even the decaf coffee was good, which is hard to find. They have a system that works well, but be prepared to wait in line for yummy food. Once it's ordered, it doesn't take long to come out though.
Modern American cuisine for health conscious clientele. It's counter service but the staff is very attentive. You can also buy some of their house made products packaged to take home. Seasonal menu items may change frequently.
This place has a good vibe and the staff was friendly. The food was really good and of high quality though a bit overpriced $16 for a hamburger and you had to pay extra for cheese or fries or a drink. They have beer and wine on tap and have a relaxed modern Cafe vibe. They do not have any pop, which was unfortunate since I was craving caffeine, and they do not have a full bar.
On the recommendation of a friend, we stopped here for an early lunch before flying home. It was a wonderful experience! Service was friendly and helpful despite being very busy. It was a beautiful meal - fresh, seasonal, with all the vibrant colors of the early summer season. I had the hand pie and my husband had the spring burger - would recommend both. The chocolate chip cookie samples they gave out to those waiting on line convinced us to get a couple for the flight home - and a loaf of bread too. Great food, great space, great service!
Nice local cafe with locally grown organic food menu. The menu selections however, aren't as many if you are a vegetarian, that's what I felt. They do have some good bakery items too along with their bread which they might give you as a side item of toast and jam for your entree. The portion size seemed reasonable for the price since it's organic food but it's honestly not as big to share between people. They do have their own garden in the back where a lot of the produce and herbs are grown. Patio seating is available too for summers.
Lunch in the afternoon. Counter service cafe with seating inside and out. Cool atmosphere and conscious about their food sources and waste management. Prices reflect these choices but worth it knowing that your food is coming from sources as local as possible. I had the seasonal Turkey burger, juicy and tasty. Also an herbal tea Arnold palmer. I've been satisfied every time I've eaten here but not blown away. Choices on the menu for all dietary concerns. And definitely worth stopping for lunch.
Birchwood is some of the best brunch I've had in the Twin Cities area. Initially seeing how long the line was long enough to almost turn me away. It ended up only being about a 15 min wait, the turnover is pretty quick. I ordered their take on a Benedict and pancakes, everything was amazing and well worth the wait. I recommend trying Birchwood if you're in the area.
A deservedly popular "local" restaurant that attracts folks from near and far, they have an eclectic and delicious menu, with superlative baked goods. The service is friendly, there was a diverse set of customers and age ranges, it felt very inclusive and welcoming. I had the cornbread waffle for breakfast it was fab.
