Visited a few weeks ago and rented cabin 6. Absolutely perfect experience. Very simple and clean living space right on the water. The owner of the park was quick to respond when we asked to buy firewood and he even helped my brother start a fire when I left our wood in the rain. Dave was good enough also to top off the fuel tanks and pump the rainwater from the boat that came with the cottage rental. The lake is shared with other cottages but it is isolated enough that boat traffic is minimal and it's nice and quiet also the resort beach is fairly closed in. They have canoes and kayaks available for registered visitors and I believe they have a paddle boat. There's a little playground and horseshoe pit. I recommend the "sunset dock" for a great view of the lake and the public cliff on the far north side of Horn Lake look for the rope to climb up and please jump carefully if you decide it is safe.
We visited Birchcrest Resort on a long weekend in July - August. Our cottage was right at the lake. We saw beautiful sunset and moonrise!!! It was awesome. We also explored the Horn lake on our Kayak free of charge with life jackets!! Our daughter all of 9 years explored on her own! We could jump off the dock for swimming, play in sand, sit on swings. We didn't take folding chairs and hammock, it is highly advisable to carry if u have one Cherry on the cake though was the star gazing from the dock, we saw so many falling stars as it was a clear night!!! It's a beautiful rustic cottage which will accommodate 2 adults and 2 kids on bunk bed. And a sofa cum bed for extra guests with one washroom. We were provided with all the kitchen go to amenities like micro, refrigerator, kettle, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, bowls, mugs and of course stove. We also did campfire, and BBQ !!! We did carry our bedding including napkins. I would highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for some rustic nature friendly experience!
We visited Birch Crest for the first time this summer. The cabin was very cute and well maintained. We loved being able to bring our dogs and sit on the deck overlooking the stars at night. The beds are really uncomfortable as the mattresses are really old but everything else was great! Dave and Bev are lovely people and we will definitely return next summer.
What a beautiful place to spend the week with your family! Dave and Bev were wonderful and went above and beyond to accommodate anything you need. The lake was warm and the sunsets are unmatched. Every cottage is equipped with everything you need. Having a boat with each cottage is also amazing we went around to all the islands. Rooms: 4/5
We just discovered Birch Crest this year, and we absolutely love it! It's our 'happy place.' It's all what you make of it. This isn't your typical busy, crammed, loud, partying trailer park/resort. If that's what you're looking for - this place isn't for you. Birch Crest is a quiet, safe family park. It's a relaxing place to enjoy nature and spend time with your family and friends. Sitting by the campfire at night, you'll here the loons on the lake - not your neighbors partying, and that's exactly what we love about it. Kids can have fun, but can't be out wondering late in the evening - which is great, because we get to spend the evening with them around the campfire. Amenities are less fancy then a some parks, but they have everything you need to be comfortable and enjoy your time on the lake!
A hidden gem, cabin was rustic and simple but right on the water. Could hear the waves at night. Very simple but clean. Super quiet, excellent beach area and perfect swimming on the sunset dock. Even a boat and motor comes with - the price was right.
Stay away from here Dave, I've been contemplating our interaction since you left the message on my voicemail last week. After careful consideration and consultation with others I've decided to write my own review rather than make my partner remove her review. I'm not sure what you expect when you take someone's money and then matterafactly tell them you've rented their site to someone else and are not returning the money and keeping the deck which I invested in to make our site more enjoyable. You are an abusive man who has the highest sense of entitlement I think I've ever encountered. 2 weeks prior to your rude message threatening me we were speaking in person about the size of our new trailer and whether it would fit on the site. Wonderful way to do business. Take people's money then refuse the service that money was paying for. Your resort while run down and in need of major updating has the advantage of a beautiful view and some wonderful neighbours. Sadly we aren't supposed to socialize with eachother. Yours lies about us and our site are easily discredited by photos and discussions with anyone in the park. So in answer to your threatening request I've decided to provide my own feedback rather than as you put it, have my partner take her negative review down or you don't know what will happen. I wish I could post the last voicemail from you. Wonderful spot in need of updating. Management -10 stars.
Beautiful and scenic and the glorious Sun sets right in front of you. Cabins can be rented Saturday to Saturday and are fairly priced. They have three small and three little bigger cabins all facing waterfront. Water is clean! Very family friendly and owner guards these premises like a hawk. You immediately feel 'safe' when you enter here. You can use their kayaks and life jackets etc. A small boat is included in the cabin booking too. Fully operational kitchen with BBQ and fire pit outside. We were asked to bring our own sheets, blankets and pillows. Bathrooms are outside and is common. Burk's falls is 15 minutes away in case you need supplies. They have a store on-site but it's closed now due to covid. You need to call them to make a booking and they are usually very responsive. Rustic and small cabins but with those views outside... who would be indoors anyway?!
This place is a gem! Owners are so nice. I never had been in the water before. They gave me lessons for kayaking as well for no charges. Their cottages are so beautiful and are equipped with all the essential. It has a great swimming dock. You can sit on it and enjoy the sunset, which is most beautiful. I had cook for them and they loved my food. Never seen a such beautiful place.
My family and I have been coming up here for the last 20+ years. We have found the lake very beautiful and quiet. Bev and Dave do their best to make sure everyone is welcome to the resort and has an enjoyable time! We enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, and scuba diving on this magnificent lake. Cottages are located right on the water with a BBQ and your own fire pit. Would highly recommend anyone to visit. Located about a 3 hour drive north of Toronto.
