Terrible front office staff. They called to let me know that they will be canceling my exam and lens fitting due to a departing practitioner. Staffer offered no advice alternatives or referrals, but instead berated me about a missed appointment from 4 years ago, and that I hadn't been in since 2016 anyhow. I even mentioned that I'm on my last pair of contacts, and no offer of a sample or anything. Wow. Too bad, Dr. Meehan is a great Dr, but the staff is wanting. Thanks for nothing.

This eye was doctor is very rude and totally disrespectful and it started with his receptionist! I arrived for my eye appointment at 3:05 the receptionist at the desk instantly judged me from sight. My natural curly wild hair must have disgusted her because she gave me a totally appauled or "surprised" look. She greeted me with "How can I help, you" . I responded with "Hi, I have a 3:00 appointment". She asked me for my insurance card which I did not have on me at the time, but I did have my insurance card number memorized. She basically attempted to reject service to me for not having the physical card. She then suggested that I bring it later on the same day or bring it in the next day. I agreed to fax it to the office. As I accepted the registration papers I realized my husband who was waiting in the car could drive back to the house and bring it to me, so I began to dial his number. The receptionist stated that I should use my phone outside the office. I asked her if there was a policy for phone usage in the office being that there were no signs posted establishing this policy. She responded "NO, ITS COMMON COURTESY " feeling super disrespected at this point I continued with my phone call and took a seat. The receptionist then came out from behind the desk in my face demanding that I step out in make my phone call , which by then was already conducted and finished. When I returned the registration paper work, she refused to accept it and called in who I assume to be the eye doctor. She told him that I refused to get off my phone or step in the hall when asked and that I did not have my insurance card. He then asked me for my insurance card , I told him my card was on the way, he then said well we can see you when it arrives. Although my insurance was already confirmed, this physical card was keeping me from a very important scheduled appointment. Before I can accept to be seen later , He asked me what time was my appointment I responded 3:00, His respose was "well its 3:20 you need to reschedule" I told him I had already been there since 3:05 and I've been searching for an eye doctor for months, it wasn't right for them to reject me service because I called to get the information they requested. His response to me was "NOW YOU CAN SEARCH FOR A NEW EYE DOCTOR" I am an african american woman and I feel like I was treated accordingly. The natural curl of my hair or the dark tone of my light skin don't define who I am. I will never associate with binghamton eye associates 33 mitchell avenue ever again.

The entire staff was efficient, professional, and incredibly sweet from the initial phone call to the visit itself. The secretary quickly got me in for a next-day emergency appointment and Dr. Beierle diagnosed my problem immediately. Overall, a fantastic experience.

I accompanied a good family friend to her appointment recently. It's actually sad because she had a great experience with the doctor and the other medical staff. The issue was with the secretary. She was disrespectful and inefficient. It's unfortunate an otherwise great experience was so diluted by a poor team player. This goes to show how strategic even the most expendable member of your staff can be. Thumbs down.
