Big Fish & Open Range has a great selection of food, including wild game. I had the bison short ribs, and they were excellent. It’s a bit pricey, but that’s expected with this kind of menu. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend!
I am a foodie and love to research and find non franchise restaurants from where we live south of Edmonton to Mexico where we love to travel. We were in Calgary today for a concert and had the chance to try this place that I’ve been wanting to try for years. The service was amazing. The Chef and owner came out to talk with us after our meal and was so nice! We would definitely go back!nWe had the soft shell crab burger, bison burger, lamb & lobster burger and the seafood platter.
Everything was perfect! Service was fantastic, Davea was our server and he took good care of us! We enjoyed every single thing we ate and couldn’t even pick a favorite because everything was just so great! Service was a good pace and I loved that the music was set at a level where it was nice background music and I didn’t have to scream and yell over it to talk to my husband! We enjoyed oysters, mussels, shrimp bucket, bone marrow, and creme brulee! No negative feedback at all from either of us! The place was incredibly clean too, no dust, no cobwebs in the corners, nothing! We are looking forward to coming again next weekend!
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a little while now and we thought during the food expo was the perfect time to try. The menu is very large, something for everyone to choose from and unique dishes too!nnWe came here for dinner during the food exp and it was a cool experience, we started off with some drinks, the ole smoke and the lavender gin sour which both drinks were great! We chose one of each of the appetizers, the scallop was cooked perfectly and the poached pear salad was full of flavor. For our main dishes we had the elk sirloin and the artic char, both were great, if i had to knock off some points it would be for the baked potato. it tasted a little over cooked but other than that everything was great. Finally for dessert we had the goat cheesecake and the pecan bourbon pie. The pie was good and not too sweet and the goat cheesecake was so light and airy.nnThe service was great and I would like to come back and try different items on the menu. We will definitely be back!
My friend and I went last night with our teenage daughters. We all really liked the food. We had calamari and lobster artichoke dip to start, I had the arctic char with a side of shrimp and then I tried a bit of the pecan pie, all very good. Their menu is extensive, tough to make a choice!nOur server was very nice but she would come by and refill our waters while we had finished our other drinks but not ask if we wanted another one. We had finished our food for awhile , around 20 minutes or so until the hostess cleared our plates. Our supper took just under 2 and a half hours, fine if on a date maybe but I thought this was too long especially on a Monday just after stampede as it was not busy at all. We ate on the patio so I can’t say much about the ambience inside.
