As a working parent looking for a before and after school program- I was pretty disappointed with my interactions with the organization. I visited several times to ask questions about the program and ended up getting no answers. I tried to explain that my son is in Jk and I am not familiar with the process- and each time the staff was pretty dismissive of my concerns and questions.nI was not given a chance to have a tour of the facility, meet any of the staff who would be in charge of the programs, or even an idea of what activities they would be doing with kindergarten students. All they did was direct me to the general website but without telling me where to look or get an explanation of anything.nTo make matters worse- the following day I received a charge receipt for the program- when I called to ask when it entails- they immediately said if I don’t like it I can cancel and get a refund- which I did since I didn’t like the tone at this point. I then asked what the purpose of the BGC membership fee- what it covers which she also did not explain.nAt this point I would rather find something else. Rather than trying to be supportive to new parents who are asking for these institutions to provide care for their children- I got a very arrogant and stand off vibe from the staff, and quite frankly disrespectful.nThere is no option to choose when you want the program to start - I mentioned I am not urgently needing this at the start of the school year as I am currently on maternity leave and will be returning to work in February. This was ignored and I got the flat ‘this is our fee’ talking point.nFind yourself a different place if you want to have more welcoming staff
Nice playground and surrounding grounds, close to many communities. Have several friends whos children have enjoyed what the club has to offer.
BGC Durham has welcomed our family in like their own. My children have attended the after school programs, summer camps, PA day, march brake camp and holiday camps for a few years now. They are always excited to be at the bgc and when they’re talking about their time at the club. The pals are very attentive and caring and have pretty fun pal names. Thank you for everything BGC Durham, what a great place to be apart of.
I am a former BGC kid, and now my children attend their summer camp. It's great to have an organization like this in the community.
register my son for private swimming lessons on Saturday here , and I was told they have to cancel the whole session a day before the first session starts without any reason. My son is autistic, and he is sad because of rescheduling.
