"Here is an old restaurant that has been running for over 20 years, serving primarily Vietnamese, Thai and other Asian foods and dim sum. Dine-in, pickup and delivery are available. We eat here a lot and used to at the former location. Typically the service is prompt and the servers are very nice. Dine in or take out are wonderful. Sometimes the restaurant can be very busy so expect to wait a little bit. Food is typically great and we have had predominantly positive experiences here. Good portions too. As a family with some dietary restrictions they have always been helpful and accommodating.
After trying takeout 7/10 Singapore Noodles a couple of times in the last few years moved to Hamilton in 2016 I decided to go into the restaurant as I was craving authentic Asian cuisine as I’ve travelled extensively through SE Asia over the years China, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Ordered Vietnamese Spring Rolls 6/10 too big, not like traditional in Vietnam, Crispy Shrimp in a sweet and sour sauce 2/10 soggy and not crispy and too much coating, General Tso Chicken 3/10 soggy and not crispy and Pork Dumplings 0/10 didn’t arrive and got them to go when paying my bill. I mentioned my disappointment to the clerk at the bar and was told they had a new cook. Will wait until after COVID to see if this was just an off night experience
A very clean, well decorated and layed out dining room, spacious with long tables, comfy seating. Orders taken by phone and paid in person at bar on your way out. I'm not a big fan of this type of food offerings so I can't comment on its quality, but can say it was tasty. I like lots of protein on my plate so this is not really that kind of place. Large portions, won't leave hungry, especially the combos. No liquor wine or beer. Smoothies and soft drinks juices... Not inexpensive but fairly priced somewhat on the high side for what your getting.
R u kidding me , I thought this is another Ben Thanh restaurant just like Waterloo or kitchener locations. The menu seemed very similar but similarity ends here. The same food but the quality is, at another level. You can tell the food is very fresh and was just made when u place the order and they take thier time to make it; so it comes out tasty fresh and delicious. Thank you , thank you and thank you for working so hard to serve Hamiltononians , I wish I lived close by, but I live in waterloo ; will come back hopefully soon ;
Finally found a place in Hamilton that makes soup dumplings! It is also difficult to find traditional crispy style vermicelli spring rolls with meat but they had it. Congee flavour was a bit off, tasted kind of floral.
Early 2020, Dine-in review only. Been here a couple of times. They were very cautious and up to standard with the COVID procedures. Distancing of tables, hand sanitizers etc. Every time we come here, there’s a variety of races that frequent the restaurant so this place caters to all! Also seen some other regulars too. We came here one too often, that the lady owner? recognized us lol … The menu here is HUGE!! Take your time to browse it all. Menu was digital via a QR code although you can ask for a physical menu but you write your order + check in time on a sheet of paper. We’ve tried the vermicelli bowls pic is grilled pork balls, bbq pork, spring rolls which was yummy! Never had grilled pork balls before and it was surprisingly good. Also tried the pho duh! — good. The broth takes me back to my comfort place. I really like their seafood laksa here, although not spicy enough for me but the flavour is there plus they used the right noodles. They also gave a variety of seafood which is great. Also had their Tom Yum Beef Noodles and I enjoyed that too. Tried the Beef Hor Fun and Singapore Vermicelli Noodles too… Overall, never really had a bad meal here. Only opinion is that the portions MAY be a bit tiny as we always ordered 3 dishes, or a larger size to fill us up. The washrooms here are also kept neat and tidy, but do require you to have a mask while entering! Either way, really recommend this place. Both Viet and Chinese food options are good!
Pho was good. no Bean sprouts or Thai basil. Though. Service was a bit off. One server for the whole restaurant, she was running that day for sure. Ordered a Sapporo, small can came out, which was fine but when we got the bill they charged us $9 per beer I recommend not getting a beer from this place until they change the price or start giving the costumers the right sized can again. Parking: Very limited and small spots.
Tried ordering from them via skip. Order took too long than expected and had to call if it was coming. Driver was nice and delivered, however, the order was wrong. Called the restaurant again to see if I could get a refund or if they can correct my order, they blamed it on the driver and took no responsibility for the error. The bill clearly stated I ordered noodles and I got rice and chicken. There was no way the driver had time to switch the dishes. Really disappointed with their customer service. I did get a refund from skip but never ordering from this restaurant because of this experience.
Poor value. Good heatspice but no flavour. Meat chicken dark meat was dry and tough. I'd hate to see how bad white meat would be. Hostess was not helpful in helping us choose the house specialties, so we just chose the standard shrimp Pad Tai and lemon grass chicken.
Let me start this off by saying that I used to love B&T. Especially during their Cannon street days. Now not so much. First, their new online ordering system is incredibly confusing, not user friendly, and takes away from the charm that was B&T. We also heard other customers nearby that were confused by the new system as well. Second, we tried to order a veggie pho option but it wasn’t on the menu. That is completely understandable. What isn’t understandable is asking for the chicken broth option with NO MEAT substituted with veggies & tofu, but still having to pay for the meat AND getting charged extra for veggies and tofu. This small Pho came out to $19!!! I get costs are high for everyone right now but how are you going to charge me for meat that I didn’t eat?!? I’ve been a customer for many years, but will have to rethink my next visit to this restaurant. Such a shame since these guys were a Hamilton staple at one point
