Lots of information on the scientific as well as political history issues of the area. I loved it! A quaint place, but not huge either. There were real advantages to thr history center being relatively small. Thank you!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$6–10
Really friendly people with a compact but thoughtful and fascinating exhibit. I spent about an hour and a half walking around and reading all there was to see. Lots of local history and the building itself is a piece of it all. The old train station that serviced the area for so long. If you need to burn some time drop in and say hi, it's about $5 for entry without a MN historical pass.
Very interesting place. I highly recommend visiting. Also plan to spend about an hour or so. There is a lot of information and history in this building. You can learn a lot. The staff is very knowledgeable as well. They are also very friendly.
Beautifully restored train depot building with thoughtful displays on artifacts that show local historical importance and connections to the surrounding areas and the development of our nation. The staff were welcoming and informative and explained how they are a non-profit organization and depend on the small fee at the door and donations to stay open. There is also a Veterans Memorial at the front of the building Honoring Veterans of all branches and time periods. Of special interest is the statue and plaque Honoring WWII Marine Corporal Chuck Lindbergh, a flamethrower operator who was part of the patrol that took the high ground on Mount Suribachi Iwo jima and planted our flag at the peak. The Flag was changed out for a larger one that could be seen by the troops below and from the ships offshore to help boost morale and resulted in the iconic news photo we are familiar with today. All in all a very pleasant day trip to Bemidji from Mpls.
Provided a good geological and historical overlook of the lake region of northern Minnesota. In my opinion not suitable for young children.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$1–5
This is a very cute museum that is a little off the beaten track and easily overlooked. It is located in the historic train depot and has extensive exhibits of The history of the area including the logging industry, Chief Bemidji, and the loss of tribal land. There is also a mural that depicts the glacial movement and how it has created the terrain as we see it today. You can see the museum in its entirety in an hour. Well worth it!
Enjoyed the remodeled depot. Enjoyable and informative. Lots of local history.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
