This course has a lot of potential, and I'm sure at one time it was a quality track. It is obviously neglected, however the price reflects it and I really enjoyed the layout and the walk. A very mature and quiet setting, with a number of fun holes. With a little love this place can become a lot more popular.. but it is a great spot for beginners to enjoy a quiet round currently
If I could give this place, I will not call it a golf course, a minus a million rating I would. There is absolutely no logical reason for this place to be open as a golf course. I can not stress strong enough, to anyone considering playing here to stay away. Do not go anywhere near this place. A cow pasture is.in better condition. In response to managements claim that I wrote a false review. I assure my fellow golfers that I could not have be more honest with my opinion of this facility. We called at 9am Friday July 2/21 and requested a 11am tee time for 2 with cart to play 18. We were told that 11am was available, first red flag. We arrived at the facility at 10:50 to find the parking lot virtually empty, 4 or 5 vehicles, red flag #2. We approached the clubhouse and were met by the GM, who was on the phone having a discussion with someone about is baseball umpiring. At this point he informed us that they were offering a special of $39 with cart because the front nine was closed and we would have to play the back twice. Red flag #3. As we struggled through the conditions it was obvious that the facility is in big trouble.as we did not see one person doing any maintenance. For sure they do not employ a greenskeeper. As for managements claim they could not find any proof that I was there, it's probably because they don't have a tee sheet, because no one goes there.
Golfed here for the first time tonight, had a great time. The Gentleman in the Pro-Shop was very friendly and knowledgeable, helped us right away and got us off quickly. The course itself is absolutely stunning, if you like picturesque golf courses, Bear Creek is great. The only reason this isn’t five stars is for the condition of the course, Fairway and Rough could be more distinguishable on a few holes and some dead patches on the greens were my only issues, but I’m hopeful that will be cleaned up by the next time I golf here as I will definitely be back.
Always loved the layout of this course, and even with the new changes, it was still a good layout. Got a bit lost after the 5th hole due to lack of directional signage. Very disappointed in the poor, brown, dried and cracked "greens". Worst I have ever seen this course. We can deal with longer cut tee blocks and fairways, however the condition of all the greens were unacceptable. Shame to see such poor maintenance in this area. The price wasn't worth the course condition. Other courses are charging similar fees and are in far better shape. Shame. We really loved playing here, but will not be returning unless maintenance improves.
My daughter in law from Alberta bought us a $100.00 gift certificate over the phone and paid by credit card. Since it was late in the year when we received it I called and talked to the manager who said they didn't have carts available anymore. I had just injured my knee so couldn't walk the course. He said the certificate would be fine for the following year. I called the next summer and book a tee time and said I was using a certificate, but the pro shop said they were not honouring any certificates. I have sent many emails and made calls, but no luck. Sad when a small town business treats the locals this way....it was too late to get the money back from the credit card company and file a complaint. Hoping google reveiw saves other people from this same trouble. Edit: Thanks Paul for correcting this situation. Looking forward to playing the course.
My wife booked a 10:30 tee time for 4, 9 holes with cart, I received a phone call when I was 2 minutes away so I waited till we got there to talk to him. They didn't have enough carts for us because of breakdowns and damage. I have never seen a golf course in such bad shape. I understand that we are coming off of a pandemic but the other courses I've been on this year are in great shape. They had hoses on the course and on a couple of greens, they even had one sprinkler one a green on. It looked the ground maintenance was non-existent.
Worst golf experience I have had in my life. We went up to the club house to pay for the round and he told us the greens were out of service. He put flags in the fairway and rough in front of the greens. He told us that he would give us a $5 off of $33 for 9 holes which is a fair price for a fully functional golf course. $5 was not a fair discount for a golf course that is unfinished at best. Disappointed to say the least.
Just golfed here today. Great day with the family at this beautiful, affordable course. We saw lots of wildlife and enjoyed being outside on a beautiful day. Condition of the course could use some work but with Covid it’s understandable. We will be back, Bear Creek!
Haven't played here but when the photos don't even show the course, I'd say that's a pretty big red flag. Combine that with all the bad reviews, I'm thinking I'll pass on this course. Edit: After hearing your response, I went back and checked the photos once again. I only saw one pic of the course. Am I missing something here ? Caradoc Sands, for example, has several pics as well as a 4.4 star overall rating As far as only giving it a one start rating, I did that based on other reviews and the responses given from the owner to justify the negative comments. Seems like you get a little defensive rather than addressing the concerns being expressed by reviewers. I think I made it clear that I've never played the course, and highly doubt I ever will.
It's okay when they cut their grass. Throughout the season I had nothing but great praise for the staff that's been working there dealing with the weather and the flooding . I think they did a fantastic job all year round
