I've had good service and only ok service here over the years. It's been a mix. They're very knowledgeable and fairly friendly. Plus they have a cute dog that hangs out, so that's a bonus. : Attention to detail could be better bell reattached on opposite side of handlebar for instance and somehow my seat was loose afterward, even though they were working on the front of the bike. If the service is going to cost more than quoted, they don't always call before doing to work... My last visit, when I saw the invoiced price was more than triple the original quote, I was pretty shocked. They rectified the issue quickly though thankfully, still not exactly what I wanted but didn't pay more than quoted at least.
Excellent customer experience. In less than two days I got a fully custom Santa Cruz Bronson. Price was also fair and reasonable. Rob was helping me out through the process and provided excellent service even after regular working hours. I totally recommend Rob and his team at Bateman’s. Great work and excellent people Thanks again!
No words can describe how much I love this bike shop. Been with them for 7 years. I went every year to get my Schwinn bike tuned. Got to know Mike over the years and always received excellent service from him. He went above and beyond when doing a bike fit for my new road bike. He was always honest and gave me recommendation on bike parts and accessories that were within my budget and my level of expertise aka beginner lol. He spent time to teach me more about my new bike, how to position myself properly on it, what to do/not to do, etc. I am so sad that I will no longer be able to visit Bateman's, as I am moving out of province. But I am incredibly thankful to have had the support of this shop as I begin my new chapter with road cycling. A big thank you to Mike for his incredible service!!!
I’ve been coming to Bateman’s on and off for the past 5 years. The first time I was there my family and I rented a few bikes to tour the city during the summer. I was so happy with the bike and service offered that I bought a bike from Bateman’s the week after! After that I kept coming back because the staff, besides being friendly and knowledgeable, were always honest with me and never did I get that feeling that “they’re just trying to sell me things” which I’ve repeatedly gotten from other bike shops on the city. Recently I dropped off my bike which needed some service. A few days later they emailed letting me know the bike was ready for pickup… because of work I couldn’t pick it up soon. Mike offered to store my bike for over a week until I could pick it up. Needless to say Bateman’s is an amazing bike shop and one which I’ll continue to use as long as I’m in Toronto. Highly recommend!
I just picked up my bike, over of many visits to Bateman's over the years. On top of fixing the actual problem, they fixed a couple of other small details without even being asked. This is truly going above and beyond during a busy season, particularly for a business that already offers high quality, friendly and prompt service. Plus they don't try to oversell you with services or repairs you don't need. Highly recommend!
Got a tuneup here and the turnaround was only a day, which is amazing. They also simply tightened my chain rather than selling me a new one as other repair shops have done. Online booking was quick and easy. Also enjoyed visiting with a shop doggo!
Awesome shop. Getting back into mountain biking after a long hiatus and Mike and Rob spent a bunch of time walking me through different options and helping me find the perfect bike, some new gear and gave some great trail recommendations. My go to shop from now on!
I came to bateman’s to find a new bike as mine had a complete break in the frame. Mike recommended a lovely Opus 9-speed which I liked; however I still wanted to try a peddle-assist bike that they didn’t carry. Mike allowed me to purchase the bike and ride it over to the other bike store, and assured me a full refund if I wanted to get the peddle-assist. I ended up getting the peddle-assist, so essentially Mike provided me with a free ride. He was honest, kind, knowledgeable; and I got to pet adorable Radler, the store dog. Thanks so much Mike!
100% biased review alert as I ride for Bateman’s. But what I can tell you is between Rob, Mike and the rest of the sales team they have all types of cycling covered with deep knowledge—XC to enduro, road to gravel to CX, and all the city riding and hauling you want. Then Kris and the service team can repair anything and solve the most obscure of mechanical/technical challenges. They’ve expanded the repair shop to one of the largest if not the largest in Toronto. But the magic is how it all comes together to support an inclusive community of good people on bikes. There’s the team for more competitive spirits. There’s a club with casual rides—often built around inclusivity to tackle some of the stigmas/stereotypes around cycling. The only thing you might be disappointed about is because they’re so good, so popular they are busy so service might not be scheduled as “immediately” as you’d like. They’re good people doing good things, and they help make my cycling dreams come true, which is why I choose to support Bateman’s!
So i caught the bike bug and have been to a couple of shops around toronto. Mike and the guys at batemans helped hook me up with a sweet first mountain bike and its perfect for what i need. They have done a great job helping me with everything i need even during this interesting time. I have been back a couple of times now for some odds and ends and they have been consistent in service. Great attitudes, great products, highly reccomend batemans to anyone who's looking for a bike shop!
