Nice little museum with a lot of interesting information available. Friendly cashier that provided useful information, but being short staffed there was no guide available for explanations / tour. The beach is also quite small but very pleasant with fine sand that squiks "singing sand".
It is very intereste place. When we entered the museum, Ms. Vera is a tour, she very nice and funny woman. She introduced a lot of knowledge to us, i.e. How to catch fish and lobster? We learned a lot from her.
Had a great time and learned about fishing in PEI - very informative and Vera was a great guide for the tour. The beach is beautiful.
Great place to learn about local fishing. And how much it has evolved. Here in pvi.
Great displays, worth a visit. However this location could benefit from a guided tour option. Artifacts on display doesn't have much information of their usage or importance.
My husband and I love museums and we visited a lot while on the island, but so many were lacking in areas that would hold the interest of our teens and 7 year old. This museum has three floors, tons of historical artifacts, dioramas depicting different types of fishing from mussels, crab, lobster, tuna and much more. Since it was a quiet day, we were given a personal tour by one of the staff who grew up in the area and was the daughter of a fisherman. She spoke of life in the town, history and explained with such detail the different aspects that made the town thrive. She was a wealth of information and knew all about farming the Irish moss, all the types of fishing, how the eco-system was effected by certain activities and more. Even without our personalized tourwhich was amazing, we would have enjoyed this museum for the interest that it kept for the entire family. So much to look at, without the kids getting too bored reading all the information on the plaqueswhich is something that my husband and I usually do. I highly recommend visiting the museum. The beach is right there to enjoy too, so why not just pop in for a visit.
Awesome beach to enjoy the sand and ocean.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Really great, friendly staff. The museum has a lot of things to see, although for non-fishermen it can look like a bunch of random stuff as there is little explanation. Found ourselves wandering through very quickly due to lack of information to read. The girl shop and beach are fantastic!
Super fun activity on a very grey, rainy day. Seriously enjoyed the tour and Vera made it a significant, nice and interesting time by the beach. Really loved it
Great informative tour on the history of fishing. Our teen really enjoyed learning of the different era's of fishing and techniques used.
