I’m almost a local, living about 40 minutes away, and I find myself occasionally stopping here to use the impeccable outhouse that others have mentioned when going to or from Red Deer. I’ve also spent the last three days camping here and quite enjoyed the peace and quiet. I’ve had the whole place to myself, basically since I arrived on a Monday and my stay is during the week. I know weekends it is a busy little campground usually and when any events are going on at the Ag grounds next door.nnUnfortunately, the care and cleanliness of that wonderful little outhouse with an actual flushing toilet has gone downhill this year. I was quite disappointed to check it out on the Sunday and find no toilet paper, feces smeared all over the toilet, overflowing garbage, cobwebs filling up the skylight. Floor and door dirtier than I’ve ever seen it. I don’t believe this is volunteer run. I believe it’s run by the town or at least maintained by them but I’m not certain, although the town for sure endorses it on their web site noting the ‘new’ facility near the baseball diamonds.nnYesterday I saw two workers wearing safety vests late in the day doing some maintenance, collecting garbage that sort of thing. I also checked the outhouse later on and saw the garbage had been emptied, and toilet paper added but that was the extent of any maintenance done in there. I ended up cleaning the toilet myself using the bottle of liquid hand sanitizer on the counter and paper towel from the dispenser. There is also another campground outhouse closer to the trailer dump, just what you expect of an older outhouse with men and womens sides.nnFor camping you can’t beat the privacy afforded by the very heavily treed sites here, which is about half of them. Hard to come by fully treed sites as most give in to the space needed by the newer and much larger RV trailers of today. There are still a few sites that would accommodate longer than 30 footers. They’re out in the open and possibly a couple long enough that are in the trees if you back in.nnThere are no services other than a trailer dump on your way in or out. The dump runs on solar, I think that’s the reason for issues and doesn’t work sometimes as noted in other reviews. I’ve seen a few vehicles pull in late in the day only to hit the road again after realizing there were no services. Considering the proximity to town limits I’m surprised the town doesn’t install power at some of the sites Maybe just not cost effective and its busy enough as it is.nnA reasonable rate is charged compared to other campgrounds. It’s self registering at $20 a night currently.nnNice little playground and a couple of shacks for group meals or meal preparation or just to get out of the rain are available.nnHighway 53 runs adjacent to the north side of the campground. It is fairly busy during the day but quiets right down as the evening progresses. There is a train track close by, my first night here four or five trains went by through the night. Last night and thereafter I only heard two through the night.nnI would stay here again and I would recommend anybody else stay here provided they didn’t need hook ups.
Fun camp ground. A little bit loud being close to the highway and all. But it's a good campground. They have the AG grounds which are fun to walk and big baseball diamonds. One thing that I definitely should mention is they have like the cleanest outdoor washrooms I've ever been in. Thank you Bashaw for making an awesome campground!
Very nice looking place, shady spots, $20.a spot. I still think, $5. Would be good for tenting. But RVs are here for sure.
I pretty much just stop here to walk my pup and use the restroom on my way to Calgary, but it is the cleanest outhouse I've ever seen! Also very cute little site and I think it would be a lovely place to camp a few evenings nnUpdate: I have found that although it is a very clean rest room during the summer, there is clearly no one maintaining these in the off season. Very yucky any time I've stopped not in the summer. Understandable without seasonal staff, but still a heads up.
