I love this place. It is frozen in time. It looks like it did in 1974. The food is pure comfort. The crust on these pizzas is remarkably good. Crisp and flavorful. The toppings are fresh and plentiful. A meal here takes me back to a simpler time, a better time in history. Prices here are very reasonable too. If you've never been here, you don't know what you are missing. Thank you, Barnaby's for connecting me with my past.
Honest to god the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life. I would die for it, I will never move out of Illinois just because of this pizza. Interior is also super cute and Kitchy. Pimento cheese is the perfect starter and best I’ve had. Love love love this place .
Best pizza I’ve ever had… it’s seriously to die for… the crust is buttery and crunchy.. I believe it’s made of cornmeal. The pizza is just so good, we get it with mushrooms, sausage, and cheese.. they also have incredible ranch dressing.. We always get the pimento cheese and crackers to start and it’s also so good we have a hard time not eating it all right there.. also the ambience is just precious.. it’s so good.. worth the drive..
We arrived for an early lunch. Staff were friendly and it got busy by the time we left. Started with fries and salads and then two different pizzas. The cornmeal crust is light and crispy. A great family style Italian restaurant. I really enjoy their food. The pastas dishes are made out of excellent quality produce. Cheesy and tasty. Their pizza is made out of corn meal flour. It’s very crunchy and tasty as well. The portions are pretty huge I always end up with a to go bag. For the price, its excellent for families and events. The place is self service so before you seat, place your order then find a table free seating. I love this joint. Ps: try the baked mostaccioli! Staff is amazing and food is made fresh.
This place has a very unique vibe. Dated, authentic and lively. Nearly 40 tables on site, so plenty of room. Order at the counter & bar, so no waiting for waitor. They still take your order on paper tickets....surprised cash wasn't required. I got a small pizza. It was perfect. The crimped crust was ‍ perfect. The undercarriage was also crispy til the last bite. 10/10 recommend. Good prices, good food and great establishment.
The pizza was delicious. The crust was amazing. They also really good black cherry draft soda. I was a little thrown off by the flow of ordering food, seating yourself, and getting drinks. I think there should be a person to give direction when you walk in. I would definitely eat here again.
We visited after attending the orchid show at the Chicago botanical garden. When you come in it’s a bit confusing because you have to place your order for food and drinks in the back and then seat yourself. There is no signage to let you know to do that! However, after getting that sorted out, we ordered from the specials menu. I had a grilled chicken sandwich on onion bun with Jack cheese and bacon and my husband ordered a chicken Phily sandwich with cheese. And we got one order of fries to share. The sandwiches were amazing! Both were done nicely and tasted great! The fries were perfection-crispy and not greasy! Our total with drinks was under $20. We recommend this place if you’re in the area.
This is a truly unique tavern style pizza that truly must be tasted! It is one of my top pizzas period and I'm a bit of a pizza fanatic!
Saw the review from David Portnoy and felt I had to give this place’s pizza a try. Right off the bat the pizza the pizza felt different, the crust didn’t feel like your usual dough crust rather felt like a little similar to a cauliflower crust pizza. Overall the pizza is above average and can be given a try!
