First time at this restaurant and it was a great experience! The staff was very accommodating to our group and the food was so tasty! The location was smaller than I expected but the decor, dishes and great atmosphere make it such a great experience! Super yummy drinks and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu if you're looking to try something new!
A very modern and comfortable spot with very tasty Mexican-inspired dishes. Service was great and the flavours of the dishes were quite good. The tacos were a touch greasy on the outside for my liking but not so excessive as to be falling apart. I would go back again to try other items.
We had the Dine Around menu for lunch a February special, $30 for 3 courses. Sardines to start a bit too salty for our taste but nice, then I had squid more potatoes and peppers than squid but good and my partner had tacos nice and lots of meat. Dessert was a delicious cake. Food was very good, our server was knowledgeable and the decor was really nice. A great addition to the waterfront. Can't wait to go back in the summer.
The atmosphere is great amazing unique decor. We shared a pitcher of the white sangria, it was tasty and refreshing. Unfortunately ate elsewhere so cannot wait to come back to try the food. The only complaint I have is it was incredibly hot/humid in the bar when we were there. Great spot with friends or a group but for an intimate moment with a partner may be a tad loud for some. Overall great experience for the short time we were visiting in.
We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch here. Wonderful atmosphere and excellent service. Main courses were very tasty but our only constructive point would be around the desserts. We found them underwhelming. Other than that, a fantastic addition to the Halifax food scene!!
The food was delicious and our service was great! Even despite how busy it was, there wasn't much of wait. Drinks were amazing and food was delicious. I know the space is small, but I do find you're slightly too close to the person next to you. Only complaint!Food: 5/5
I have never been disappointed with a meal yet at this amazing Spanish themed yesterday on the Halifax waterfront. The staff is phenomenal and the chefs, very approachable and extremely competent. I always sit at the chef's rail and marvel that they can tolerate the heat that radiates from all of their equipment. Last night, August 19, I had a delicious cold soup made from cucumber and then, an absolute treat of red snapper which I used to eat all the time when I worked in Powell River but I would eat it on the barbecue fresh from the sound immediately in the water from the cottage I rented. Last night's version and apparently I got the last filet, was delicious. It was accompanied by things I had never eaten before but glad I got persuaded to venture into new territory. So I ate plantain for the very first time, and a stuff Mexican pepper whose name I had never heard off. One of the best meals ever in Halifax and in my life, frankly.
Enjoyed dinner with friends tonight at the newly opened Bar Sofia. The Latin inspired restaurant is the newest edition to the Halifax restaurant scene. We enjoyed so many different cocktails and different dishes that it's hard to name them all! Our server Ryan was super knowledgeable of all the menu items, as well Ryan was quick with our orders and rarely kept us waiting. The atmosphere is inviting, and very fun! Will definitely be visiting again!
This restaurant is a true gem on the Boardwalk in Halifax. It has a Spanish-themed decor both inside and out. We sat outside where the tiled walls and tables are reminiscent of Parc Güell in Barcelona Spain. The food is Spanish influenced as well and are served tapas style so they are easy for sharing. We started with the Shisheido peppers which were excellent. They were roasted perfectly and the seasoning just enhanced the dish. We also had the marcona almonds which were the only disappointment of the meal. The amount was very generous, but we expected that there would be something extra maybe some seasoning or at least have them nicely heated. For our mains we had the sardines and the beef taco special. Neither disappointed. The beef tacos were generous. I ordered three, but could easily have been satisfied with two. The flavour was outstanding. Easily the best tacos I have had. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the sardines as well. We finished the evening off by sharing the churros and chocolate which provided the perfect ending to a phenomenal dinner.
What an excellent experience all around! It felt like I set foot on vacation when I walked in. The food and ambience was amazing, each dish we had was delicious and the drinks were very refreshing! Can't wait to go back.
