Neat place, small and cute. Counter service but staff are friendly. My wife and I each liked the dumplings, both steamed and fried. The bao was okay but dry and not a lot of filling :/. We tried the sweet bean, chicken curry, pork sweet bean was my preference.Food: 4/5
A bit overpriced IMO. The chicken curry Japanese tasted the best to me. The mushroom was decent but lacks flavor or seasoning and had to drown it with condiments and the the tofu was the blandness and light on the filling. They could fill the bao more.
Pork and scallion dumplings, steamed pork buns, and wonton soup. This was a very good and tasty meal. The 4 rating is only because I wished the wonton soup was tastier. All the other items were wonderful! The pork buns were really big too.
This is a fast food restaurant where bao is readily available. The interior is not large, with mostly counter seats, but the side facing the street is brightly lit with glass walls. Upon entering the restaurant, you will be greeted by a cute display of Bao. There is a set meal with Bao and a choice of cooking styles for the Dumplings. The Bao are also available with a variety of fillings, which is a nice touch.
I had high hopes for this place but was kind of disappointed. I was passing through town and was craving real dim sum, like $1.50 Bao from a huge steamer basket served by Chinese people. Without knowing what it was like, I stopped at Bao Bao and got 2– $3.50 Bao, the bbq pork Bao was delicious and the bun texture was awesome. The chicken curry I didn’t care for. The pan fried pork dumplings were awesome. Very well done on those. I also got a cold noodle salad with chicken that I felt was lacking in flavor. It was cold, fresh, and had some oil and soy sauce to go on top. It needed something more—more crunch, more spice/flavors needed. This is more of a hip Portland Bao place that is kind of expensive with limited Bao choices. If you go, I recommend the pan fried pork dumplings and bbq pork Bao.
Delicious and simple buns. Their mushroom bao is the best one surprisingly better than the meat ones and good for a snack when hungry. The mushroom bao was flavorful enough to not use with sauce. Their bun is so soft too -- like a pillow. Would have given them 5 stars if the other bao, the tofu one had more flavor.
Great hole in the wall place for fast, warm, delicious Bao. The dumpling soup is also delicious. Food was quick. It's a small place so the biggest table seats 3. There are bar stools for larger group but seems more set up for 3 or less parties. They also have frozen bao for taking home the deliciousness. Kid-friendliness: Took the kids. They have little toys you can buy. Parking: Parking along street
10/10 Excellent bao shop! Their handmade dumplings are freaking delicious, and the bao is amazing! Would love to eat here again.
They have a unique setup. We got in right away, staff is very friendly. Service is a little slow, but you order up front and they deliver to your seat. It is a group eating place, so dont think what you are ordering is a whole meal, it is just a part. Make sure you order noodles, dumplings, and any additives that you want. They are delicious and it is a fun dining experience. Definitely worth a stop!
Not bad, but strangely bland. Maybe more of a quick lunch than the dim sum heaven you might hope for. Yes, I know a place that focuses on just bao isn’t really a dim sum palace… The bao chicken curry or pork revolve around a ‘meartball’ of macerated meat with sauce. Admittedly, I was jonesing for a char sui bao which isn’t on the menu, so a certain amount of let down was inevitable. The store front has a few small tables in front of the window; most of the business seems to be take out. Clean bathroom always nice. Cucumber salad was mostly julienned carrots. If you’re in the neighborhood and need some sustenance, not too filling, and you’re not too critical, could be acceptable.
