Banks Bikes Inc.

Story

Ever since my early teens I have been obsessed with bicycles. I still remember the first time I stepped into a bike shop, seeing all the bikes, the gear, the people. Even the smells, you just can’t beat rubber and coffee! Everyone was super positive, and hooked on bikes. I knew since then I would have my own store someday. I spent almost 20 years learning and obsessing about everything to do with cycling, from group rides, racing, mechanics, the social interaction, and now the business side.
With a staff as passionate about cycling as I am, we plan on creating a shop that will help start, or further your obsession with cycling. So welcome to Banks Bikes, hold on, we are going to have a lot of fun!

These guys rock! I walked in never having been before hoping they could help me with a caved in valve stem on my baby daughter’s stroller. They fixed it on the spot and refused any money. That’s what I call awesome service!
Great shop, super cool Dudes working there. Obviously things there are expensive, Biking at a high level is expensive no matter where you go so you can't Hate on Bikes Banks for that, it's just how it goes for good gear. They have a sign on the desk reminding you "Don't be a D!CK"... so, don't be a D!CK!! Lol
These guys are great! They are always my first stop when looking for bikes or components. Their knowledge and willingness to assist is awesome. I live 1.5 hours away and it is still my first choice. For those not familiar with the area, it is rural bike shop and stocked appropriately. If they do not have what you are looking for, they will often refer you to the bigger shops in Halifax. I for one appreciate their honesty about that rather than trying to sell you something else that isn't what you are looking for.
Needed a small bolt that I could not find in the city, sent a message to Colin and he had one in stock. I asked if he could mail me one at my expense, instead he just mailed me the part at no cost. Much appreciated. Ill get you back!
Messaged about buying a fixie bike. Told me to go to Halifax. I was try to support local not only because I don't have access a vehicle to go to Halifax, but like I want to support you not someone else. when I messaged to that effect; no reply. Great customer service.
So many great experiences in this shop. Our family always stops in every time we're in town, be it parts, accessories, our kids next bike or advice on which trails are open, highly recommend!
Wonderful, friendly, helpful service. Great little shop. Colin sure goes the extra mile! We so appreciated the spur of the moment help and tune-ups to help us continue on our way, during a long bike tour. Thank you so much!!
The guys were fast, thorough and actually wiped the dirt off my bike including remounting my speedometer which was mostly dangling when I brought it in try to get that kind of service in a bigger shop. They also explained the "why" behind their decisions to replace parts. The price seemed fair for the services. Definitely recommend!
I heard good things about Banks Bikes, so when my shifter cable was seized I took it in to them to get fixed. When I dropped it off on Saturday I asked for a quote and the guy looked the bike over and said around $20 to fix the shifter cable when I called to check in on my bike they said it was done and the cost was 71 dollars. When I went to pick it up on Thursday I asked for the break down they told me about the Cat 4 tune up that I did not ask for. The quote that I was given was for the repairs I asked for, not the tune up they decided I needed without consulting me first. Edited: The company has refunded my money for the service.
It's more of a kiosk than a shop. Inside. What uses to be a grocery store.
