The portion was good for the amount we paid for ~14/each. We ordered the sultani and the kofta kebab. Both orders were very filling and delicious. The meat was a bit dry but the flavour was tasty. The rice was moist and flavourful. I think they sprinkled some sumac over the meat and rice. The naan was different from what we expected and it tasted like a nice toasty slide of bread. On the side there was a light and what seemed like a yoghurt? dressing that tasted like ranch and another sauce that was sweet, sour, acidic and a little spicy. The cashier was nice and the order came quickly~5mins
To be fair, this isn't how their food normally is. But, also, my lamb chops looked like they had been mummified and I couldn't eat them. They were so burned and chewy. I did not ask for my money back as I really do enjoy eating here, but if you ask for the lamb skewers, be advised that that are lamb chops and ask for them rare : Update: Sorry, I had to update the review to 1 star after trying to eat another lamb chop and seeing the other reviews. You clearly are getting the feedback from so many ppl about how dry the meat is and you are unwilling to make any changes I guess I won't be eating here any more, but I do wish you the best.
We’re from out of town and were excited to try Bamiyan based on the reviews. Unfortunately it was like a visit to the Windsor salt factory. Super salty kabobs. The sauces didn’t help. We ordered a Kabob platter with chicken tikka kebabs and a beef kabob, Chapli kabob and the Kabuli Pulao platter with lamb shank. The lamb shank on the other hand was totally tasteless. Meat was tender but it lacked any kind of seasoning. The rice was just okay. Platters come with salad and Afghan bread. For pros, place was clean, bathroom was clean. Food tasted fresh. Don’t get the high ratings. Totally underwhelming experience. Not worth the price plus cost of parking.
I have never seen such a useless restaurant, look at the bolani they use the old bolani dip fry again with full of oil and burn. Not just the bolani almost all of there food is like that, look at the sauce even it’s not full it’s half. I had bad experience with them not recommended
If you are Afghan and want mantoo… this is not the place to go to. For me… the mantoo was flavourless… I had to add salt and black pepper in it. Pros: the dough was a good consistency and they were steamed when warming up. I would never have it again… adding salt should not be required. This means the filling, yoghurt and topping all were low on salt. The bathroom was clean… which is another good thing. I would really give the mantoo a 1/5, but I feel bad, because it’s the only dish I tried… I do have to say, it’s the hardest dish to get right usually…
I have tried many times all the tome they have excuses by serving food . this is my last time because chicken they served was not fully cooked. they don’t have genuine taste of Afghan . who don’t have complaint it means they don’t have taste.
First of... this is not the same Bamiyan as in GTA! The GTA one many times better in the food and atmosphere quality. They are super expensive specially compared to the quality and quantity of food served. Be careful, their prices are different on their menu in hard copies. Lookout for prices on their menu presented on the live screen.
I have gone here a few times and try Afghan cuisine as they are underrated food to try besides Italian, Japanese or Canadian food. The last time I had was their lamb rice, and I remember the person who was serving us use his bare hands without gloves to grab the lamb, and he warm up the lamb in the biryani rice cooker. It is a decent food, if you want to try Afghan food. But I would recommend the Greater Toronto Area for Afghan and other international food. London, Ontario does not have those kind of international dishes compare to Mississauga, Brampton or Toronto. It is not really authentic food, but it is nothing too special just a normal food. I don’t visit downtown often, but I will give it a try one time. At least there is a business that serves Afghan food in this city unless you want better ones in Mississauga. London, Ontario does lot have any other Afghan, Turkish, Georgian or other international restaurants than just Italian, Japanese or Canadian. This city just has East Side Mario’s that is more North Americanized Italian food and is not even real Italian food from Italy that is what this city has to offer. At least Bamyan Afghan sticks with its Afghanistan roots of their own influence. This city is a downside if you want international food. So far, this is a decent Afghan food and portion is fair.
The employee of this restaurant was seen harassing a customer based on his ethnicity despite being an asylum seeking refugee in Canada who deserted his own motherland which he loves so much. This asylum seeking refugee should be sent back to Afghanistan, he doesn’t deserve to be in Canada.
Totally relived that I found this place, was in the hunt for a good chk wrap n this place has one. They sell one for $5.99 and it is very filling. The pic here is a chk dinner. The rice was the best part. Been here many many times since the past two years and the food is consistently good. Will keep coming back for sure.
