Needed to get out a try something other than burgers. Ballydoyle did not disappoint. Ordered shepherds pie, was very tasty, it was tomato based, reminded me of chili but tasted yummy. Hubby had fish n chips always a good stand by, not too greasy however they have changed their fries to the "coated" kind. Personally we are not fans of those kind of fries, I miss the "normal" fries. Also out of the beers we ordered so went to the standby Guinness.
Wonderful restaurant near the Paramount Theater. The interior is really pretty. Lots if beautiful decor that adds to the Irish pub feel. The outdoor area was right next to the Fox River. I grew up in this town and the downtown area was pretty dumpy. The city has really done a great job cleaning up the area. It was truly pretty with planters everywhere. The stairs that lead to the river were closed as some if them were crumbling and not safe to use. The food was delicious. I had the fish and chips. The service was good. He was very busy and still managed to stop by the table a couple of times I will eat here again. I want to try other items as they looked wonderful when the wait staff brought them out. Parking: Parking is not easy. There are street spots, but hard to find. Paid lots are near the location.
We wanted to try somewhere different and this is in the perfect location in Aurora. Upon entry you have 3 options of where you want to eat, we chose to go left to eat. Our waiter was very kind, our drinks were nice the ginger beer was the best one I’ve had yet our food was full of flavor and DELICIOUS, the fries were PERFECTION extremely delicious and not pictured was my husbands burger that he said was very good, the manager came and made sure everything was up to par, we had a great experience. We will be back.
Nice facilities and like the patio and the views. But one bad waiter kills the whole thing - 25 minutes to get a beer on tap. The waiters carry a handheld point of sale that they can enter your order and a ticket prints out and it can be addressed. The waiter missed my drink and delivered my friends in a timely fashion and I needed to remind him that he missed my drink. 15 minutes later still no drink And I needed to find him and remind him and they only had one bartender and I need to wait another 10 minutes to get a beer on tap. It is simply one of the worst service experiences I have had. And yes I was a server in my 20s and a bartender so I know what good service looks like and this is not the place for that at least not with the person that I had. People that came in after us with a different server did indeed get timely service orders of magnitude better than what we got. We had one round of drinks and ordered another that we never got after being there two hours simply unacceptable.
Totally recommended, the place is beautiful, the ambientantion really looks like an Irish pub, the sight to the river is unique. All the food that i order was delicious as hell and i'm not exagerating, honestly i wasn't expectig the food to be that good. The prices might look a bit high but once people see the size of the portion, understand that the price is exactly what you pay for. 100% satisficed.
I have to have gluten free options. What I ordered was the crusted parmesan chicken with no seasoning. Other than that, everything was good. 30 minutes to get our first drinks. Had the Reuben appetizer, yummy.Food: 5/5
Excellent food. Loved the corn beef and cabbage, Irish bread pudding and the Irish coffee!!Recommended dishesLoaded Corned Beef Boxty, Black Angus Burger
Came here on a Friday night after a concert at RiverEdge Park. The place was dead. Ordered Bud Lights and they gave us St. Patricks day beers….in the middle of August. Went to the outdoor patio and all of their lights were off. Bars like this is way Aurora is still known for being ghetto.
Good food, good view, great service! The Shepard's Pie is outstanding. Try the house made chips too
Took my 17yo on Saturday night and we each had a chicken pot pie. Also had the beer-cheese fries-- which were outstanding!- and the delicious dessert donuts. The service was exceptional, the restaurant is cozy with pretty strung lights, and we had a really nice seat overlooking the river. I hadn't been here in awhile and had forgotten what a nice place it is, and central to all the fun Aurora stuff with plenty of parking available. Highly recommend!
