The staff is super friendly and I liked the option of eating in their dining area. The one piece of pickerel was as much fish as the two piece but double the price. The fries were undercooked in my opinion. There wasn’t a single crunchy fry and we threw out most of them. The tartar sauce is delicious though! Love how pickle-y it is. The calamari was good. We also got two cookies and a vegan chocolate cake. The cookies were amazing! The cake was really good for a vegan cake too. Overall, everything seems a bit overpriced for the quality but given a lot of cottage goers probably come here, I can understand why it’s priced like that. I would still probably come back as we really wanted the catfish but they ran out!
This is a great gluten-free find out in cottage country. Gluten-wise fish and chips as well as wings? Yes please! They have patio coverings for lineups with masks for lineup and ordering. Covered tables for sun and rainy days. Fish was lightly battered and came out like it was baked. Chips aren't crunchy fried so it was more moist... Like pub fries than fast food fries. Tip: Pay extra for the sweet potato fries. Wow.
Nice little fish and chips place that does a lot more than your standard fish and chip joint. They got baked goodies like scones, muffins, butter croissants, cookies and butter tarts. They also do ice cream, smoothies, milkshakes, ice cream floats yum! and I love that you can add a scoop of protein powder to them if you want. They also sell frozen items that you can take home with you like cookies, soup, mac n cheese, chicken tikka and shepherd's pie. I ordered the Halibut fish and chips and it was great. I would have liked a thicker, more moist fillet but it was really tasty and definitely hit the spot. One great thing about this place is that they do a LOT of gluten free or "gluten-wise" options. They even have Halal chicken wings on their menu... If you're in the Haliburton area you have to stop by this place for a bite.
Service and setting is fantastic, but portions felt skimped. It's a great place for breakfast or lunch. The pastries are hit or miss; the chocolate hazelnut croissant was amazing but the normal croissant wasn't so good. The butter tarts were different but not to my taste. The cinnamon buns were just average. The breakfast plate and avocado wrap were both good.
Food was good. Staff were extremely kind and helpful. Nice view of the water from the patio. Desserts are so decadent and absolutely delicious. The caramel brownie was unreal.
Great fish and chips. Two piece haddock was filling. Tried clam strips and scallops. Both breaded/fried. Yum. Good selection of sauces and dips. Pickle fries were good. Vanilla milkshake was okay. Only criticism is that the tartar sauce was bland. Didn’t taste like anything. I would go again.
After a long drive from the city and a day at the beach, this was the perfect spot to get a filling and well made meal. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. If you’re ever in Haliburton or the surrounding areas this is definitely the place to go and grab a bite. It’s definitely a local favourite and it shows by the volume of people on their patio.
Great mix of food. I had a tuna melt and fries both were delicious. My dinner partner had a buddha bowl and it was excellent. The service was pretty fast and staff were very friendly. Great experience all around. Skip the pubs up the street. You'll get better food here.
Food was alright ... the poutine is nothing to write home about and the Cubano isn’t incredibly “authentic”. They were busy because it was a beautiful day and they have a fabulous patio overlooking the water ... but the food is meh. I have to say the side salad was very good and the portion sizes are good. Will definitely give them another try and update the review !
Tourist trap, spent 28$ for a double fish and chips and the quality was terrible. The fish and chips were soggy like they were re heated in the fryer, and the fries were almost on par with mcdonald's. The tartar sauce was way to pickely. There are always always tourists trap fish and chip places near bodies of water that take advantage of tourists, this is one.
