On Boxing Day, this Bagel Time was the only bagel shop open within a half hour walk of the downtown core. We bundled up and made the trek over to the Danforth, our mouths watering with anticipation. Unfortunately the bagels did not live up to our expectations. The “everything” in the bagels we ordered seemed to consist of sesame and poppy seeds only, and the texture was too chewy. Most importantly, the taste was just OK, and they lacked salt. I’ve had fresh bagels from restaurants with similar menus and wood oven, that have exploded in my mouth with fresh-baked flavour. None of that here.
Perfect location for the area. Love a fresh montreal smoked bagel. They even have a gluten-free option if that's your thing. They also just expanded the shop to accommodate a larger smoke pit. The only downfall is that they are not one to have a friendly chat... but conversation is not required;
Lovely simple, little bakery with delicious Montreal style bagles in a variety of flavours. The onion bagels have beautiful caramelized onions throughout that give them a fantastic sweet and savory taste, perfect for making sandwiches with at home! They also have gluten free bagels that are pillowy, chewy, and delicious! Great option for friends and family that are avoiding gluten but don't want to miss out on bakery quality bagels!
I rarely do this but the bagels here are just not great unfortunately. We got 6 bagels as well as a smoked salmon and a tuna bagel. There was a single slice of smoked salmon on the bagel, and the tomato was very mushy and watery. I had to take it off but it had ruined the sandwich. The tuna was completely unseasoned and tasted unlike any tuna salad I've ever had. The bagels themselves are dry, underseasoned and overbaked. They're not tender or a great representation of a Montreal style. I hope there can be some improvements since there aren't a lot of bagel shops in Toronto.
Stopped by here and got a chicken salad bagel. At first glance the chicken salad looked a little off. I been asked if I could switch it to turkey, but she insisted on it being fresh, got it home, and it was absolutely awful and tasted like mush, had no flavour and definitely did not taste fresh.
Was so excited for a bagel NOT from Tim Hortons. Instant regret. Bagel and two pastry puffs so hard they could do some damage if thrown hard enough or break the tooth of an unsuspecting victim. Seriously, how does this happen? You literally SPECIALIZE in bagels and this is what you send out ? Very shameful. Customer service no better. Thanks for nothing. Enjoy my $$ you might need it at this rate of service.
I regret thinking getting a bagel would be a great idea. That restaurant was unclean, with soggy wet carpet, unwashed window, old wiggly posters hang by old scotch tape. Unique employee was manipulating food in an unsanitary way. Got scared of food poisoning, as I was not at all sure the smoked salmon was fresh, on a bagel that was for sure a day old, not fresh off the oven for sure. the few tables they have were all dirty from previous customers. Overall, negligent and low standards. Would not return unless they change their hygiene standards
Bagels seem fresh but they're not made diligently from my experience. The bagels are Montreal style but they didn't have the bagel I wanted. I got an Avacado sandwich on an everything bagel. I added cream cheese and onions. Watched them make it and they don't even add half an Avacado just a couple spoonfuls. The Avacado that was scooped in my bagel had part of the seed in it and some black spots not sure if it's mould or oxygen but it shouldn't be served. For $9 whatever ingredients are added should be fresh. The Avacado turned me off a lot.
Best bagels! They make the bagels at a wood oven! Its so tasty and fresh! I am Kettlemans lover from Ottawa but after trying this place I think I have a new favourite Montreal style bagels place! I only tried the sesame bagels, it was great and warm just got out of the oven. They have other types chocolate onion blueberry chia seeds and gluten free options too. Also tried their cream cheese fluffy and fresh! Absolutely recommend that place! Staff was nice too!
The bagel and coffee were very good, but the aroma from the wood-fired oven is overpowering, and so is the blaring reggae ? music that the baker apparently entertains himself with. Not a place I'm eager to revisit.
