Great local restaurant. Good prices, huge portions and delicious. The staff was all very friendly. We came on a Saturday at 10:30am and it was very busy. Seems to be very popular destination.
Restaurant was a dive. I don't know why my husband enjoys eating here. The place was dirty. Plus, they set us near the restroom. You could see directly into the rear area of the kitchen, which didn't look any cleaner than the rest of the place. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

Decent food. Decent price. Homey atmosphere. Don't get french toast, though - just a soggy mess. I normally get an omelette.

Backwater is one of my favorite places to eat. Amazing people!! So very nice and friendly.
Stopped here heasing back to east MI. Mich better than Bob Evan's or the typical breakfast stop. True country cooking. Great bread and breakfast.
