Back Home Restaurant & Catering
"We started 35 years ago with Linda and Tommy Fulkerson selling crafts and antiques out of the trunk of their car in downtown Elizabethtown. Today we have expanded so much that we now are a full restaurant serving some of the best family recipes around. Today, Linda and Tommy's daughter Lori has taken over with her husband Steve. We have added onto the store, selling more than just crafts and antiques. Now Lori's daughter Hali has opened up her first boutique on the upper level called Oneal's Boutique. So if you are in the mood for some good ole' family cooking and a great local shopping experience then it is time to come down to Back Home where you will always feel like one of the family."

This place was absolutely amazing. We haven't even visited the boutique upstairs, but the decor/shopping downstairs was so cute. Most importantly, the food was just incredible. I had the honey fried chicken, with white mac & cheese with bacon, and wanted to eat until I was sick. It's now one of my favorite meals in town after only going once. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their food, and the service was friendly. Can't wait to go back.
I had never tried a fried green tomato burger, but I'm sure glad that I did. It was one the tastiest things that I had eaten in quite some time. The seasoned fries were great as well--kinda reminded me of those tasty Rally's fries. The coffee was quite good as well which seems pretty uncommon these days. And bonus points for presentation--the cup and saucer reminded me of how my great grandfather used to drink his morning coffee. In short, Back Home is about the closest thing you'll find to home-cooked food in a restaurant setting. I would highly recommend. As an aside, the parking lot is quite small, so you'll probably want to avoid the rush of lunch and dinner hours. Even if you do arrive right at lunch and have to put your parking skills to the test, the quality of food and service will totally make it worth your while.
I'm still sitting at the table waiting on another salad and some Mac and cheese to go. So good I wouldn't dare leave without something to take home. Staff was friendly and attentive. Won't pass through Kentucky without stopping here. 11/10 for home cooked, down home, comfort food - with healthy options.
I tried this place for the first time yesterday and the food was amazing. I ate the fried green tomatoes, chicken salad croissant, and peach cobbler. Fried green tomatoes is something I miss from back home MS and I’m happy to have found my new spot for those. The atmosphere is very homey. It smells great when you walk in. It’s literally like going into someone’s home to eat and being hosted by a great family that shows great hospitality to you and your family.
This is truly one of the best places I have ate in a long time. Everything we tried was absolutely amazing. From the fried pickle spears to the hot brown, chicken fried steak, potatoes, everything! This place was great. Service was great, as well.
This is a cute little place. It's an old home turned into a restaurant, so it has an abundance of charm. The staff was very friendly and the food was pretty good. The only critique I have is that the portions are small. Our family of 3 spent almost 70 dollars for what seemed like 30 dollars worth of food. Other than that, it is a lovely place with a unique eating experience.
I don't usually give 5 stars, but this is well worth it. The food was perfection and the service was like having your mom serving you. Coffee cup and ice tea glass always full, never had to ask. The appetizer of sweet onion dip was unique and wonderful. The salad was a delight in flavors, blue cheese, pecans, craisins, and very crisp apple slices. The chicken tenders were very crisp and still the chicken was moist. The Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. The sweet potato casserole was almost as good as mine. Looking forward to the Coalminer's cake. Would enjoy coming again even though an hour from home.
Everything was amazing and delicious. My husband got their XL burger and it was huge! If you get dessert try their peanut butter pie. It's thick and creamy. A little pricey for 4 people, but totally worth it considering everything is made in house!Food: 5/5
Second time eating here. Best decision of the day. Started with the pinto beans and cornbread. Didn't have enough time for a pic. This was gone in a matter of minutes. Fantastic dish. Beans were cooked to perfection and cornbread was light and flakey. Ordered the open-faced roast beef with Mac-n-cheese. Did manage to get a pic. Roast beef and mashed potatoes were perfectly prepared along with the mac-n-cheese. Finished the experience with a slice of peanut butter pie. No pic, but was outstanding. Morgan was wonderful and checked on us regularly. Portions were generous leading to a satisfied meal and experience.

Located in a restored old home, Back Home has a restaurant downstairs and a boutique upstairs. Such a great atmosphere. Diane had the Original Hot Brown, an open face turkey sandwich with a bechamel cheese sauce. I had the Honey chicken Mac & Cheese Diane: I grew up eating open-faced turkey sandwiches with leftover turkey and gravy from Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, but this was a new take on that thought and was SO delicious. I may even prefer the cheese sauce to the usual gravy. The turkey was tender, juicy, and had a nice flavor. The cheese sauce was creamy and tasty. The bacon was crispy and was a nice added flavor to the dish. Steve: Mac & Cheese is a simple dish that can be improved or ruined very easy. This one is an improvement. The white cheddar was smooth and tasteful without being overbearing and the pasta was perfectly cooked. The honey chicken was a wonderful addition. Crispy with just the right amount of honey and the chicken was tender and juicy. Service was friendly and helpful. Overall this was a gem of a find. Highly recommended two thumbs-up
