We lived in Nanaimo for 7 years, visited Chemainus multiple times because our kiddos just love this place, murals, shops and even varieties of small restaurants, plus we always stop by during our summer tubing trips to Duncan; the funniest thing is everytime we stopped by, this cute little shop closed; so we always choose the one in front of the visitor Center, I just want to know the exact operation time of this shopMonth, Day, Time, so my kids won’t be disappointed again.
This is such a gem in the heart of town. Just sneaking behind the buildings of the artisanal Main Street you are transported into relaxing secret garden. A perfect spot to enjoy an ice cream in summer with the largest selection of flavours around. Sit back an enjoy the sculpted shrubs and of course the wooden carved bears. Even in winter it is a nice spot to relax and visit.
This place is incredible. The owner and staff are salt of the earth and take the time to get to know you. We love stopping here for ice cream whenever we are in Chemanius! Major plus, if your little one is under 32" they get a free "Wee bite."
Beautiful small place with a great owner and the cutes smallest free ice cream for babies : we recommend to stop here and enjoy this place!
One of the most beautiful settings on Vancouver Island, the secret garden is immaculately maintained and evokes the Disneyland feels with the music and atmosphere. Tons of ice cream flavors served by people obsessed with quality and service, great prices and delicious ice cream. The shop is themed to a bear family, and there are tons things to see, like carved bears, topiaries and a beautiful gazebo and benches to sit. stop and enjoy an ice cream here!
We all expect to pay a little extra for a cone in summer at a tourist location but nearly $9 for the two small scoops that barely went past the rim of the cone was a rip off
best best best place in town for ice cream, shakes , sno-bobs and soft ice cream too . They make it fun to get ice cream with cool tokens and great service you cannot go wrong with this local ice cream shop!!! I had a black forrest chocolate shake that wàs recommended by the gentleman working and let me tell you it was by far the best richest creamiest milk shake I have ever had !! with a hint of cherry!!!! Good job baby bears !! I will be a big bear by the end of summer now that we know the best place to go in Chemainus. Did i mention the very cool courtyard with chainsaw carvings animal shaped shrubs and very nice landscapes with lots of seating.
One of the best ice cream establishments I have ever been to. And the owner bends over backwards do you make your stay very welcome.
We found this place by accident and what a great surprise it turned out to be - fabulous setting and awesome ice cream. Love love love!!!
