Awaken Financial is owned and operated by sole-practitioner Lorelei Miner, CPA, CGA, CFE.

Story

Lorelei grew up in a small farming community in southern Alberta. As a child, Lorelei loved playing on the adding machine in her parent’s home office and at the age of 14, before ever having taken an accounting course, she decided she wanted to be an accountant. After high school, Lorelei moved to Calgary to attend SAIT enrolling in a Business Administration Diploma with a major in Accounting. Immediately upon completion, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Business Administration degree through SAIT and the Certified General Accountant (CGA) program. Lorelei completed her degree in 2005 and completed her CGA designation in 2006. While in school, Lorelei entered the workforce and gained valuable work experience in both public practice and industry. In 2006, Lorelei relocated to Red Deer. She spent a few more years working in industry as a Divisional Controller before settling in to public practice. After 7 years in public practice, including 2 years as a partner, Lorelei transitioned into working as a sole-practitioner.
