I wish I could rate this place but unfortunately have not been able to get in.  Avalon - you need to update your hours on your website.  We tried to go on a Saturday since the website said open until 3 and go there at 1 to find out they had "new hours" only posted on a paper sign outside the restaurant.  Today we tried to go while it was snowing.  I checked Avalon's instagram before to see if they were closed, there were no updates so we went to find out they just weren't open at all (this was at noon).  I should have called but when your business is in the heart of a business/college district informing clients via social media is a great way to let us know you aren't open.  Looking forward to a biscuit someday soon!

We arrived shortly before the cafe closed on a Saturday afternoon, and the employees treated us with great kindness anyway! The apple-butter and turkey biscuit was delectable, and we paired it with a tender cinnamon scone and ginger tea. 10 out of 10 for hearty snacks and excellent service!

Just went in today and order a club sandwich which was excellent can't say I've ever had such a refreshing mayo. Service was great. Very nice place.

First visit, was served a rock hard stale brownie.  Second time, a tasty cinnamon roll.  A little pricey, but generally food is good (except that brownie).  Coffee drinks also tasty.

Best Cafe in Detroit. Great customer service and the food and drinks are always really good. It gets busy during lunch hours but it is worth the wait.
