We were a group of 8 for the family style lunch. The food was amazing from oysters to lobster roll, etc. We all loved everything and will definitely be coming again. Highly recommended.
Chef Danny Smiles is the man. Came here for a friend’s 30th and we got treated like royalty. Danny met us outside and escorted us in and then came and see us a few times, while also giving us the nicest table in the restaurant. Regarding the food, unique and absolutely delicious dishes, along with a romantic setting and top-notch service, definitely recommend to those wanting a change of scenery or in the Hudson area!
We decided to take a short drive off island to welcome the first nice weather of the spring season....and choose the Willow Inn, an institution of Hudson, Quebec for many years over 200 years!. To start, as we made our way to the table which had a beautiful view of the Ottawa River, we were greeted by super welcoming smiles and greetings from each staff member we passed...it was heart-warming and certainly made us feel at home. Needless to say, the service was very friendly, guiding us on the menu and ensuring we had a great evening which we did. We ordered in "tapas" style as we wanted to get a good sampling of what was offered. Our ordered consisted of the Beef Croquetas surprisingly light and very tasty, Brussel Sprouts excellent...both cooked in the oven and then deep fried with a curry mayo, Beet Salad very tasty, and the Halibut good portion and excellent as well and, for dessert the Triple Chocolate Cake it was just ok...I think the Sticky Toffee Pudding would have been the better choice. A great off-island choice...plus the town of Hudson is a short drive away so you can have a nice walk afterwards. Enjoy! Parking: There is a small parking lot to the side of the inn so there should not be any issues.
Very good service, she really knows her dishes. We came for our anniversary with me and my boyfriend. We took le choix du chef which is 125$ per person if you choose that option, the other person has to have it as well . I was hesitant but I gave it a shot. Kind of oily for my taste, and too pricy for what was given. There was 4 service and dessert.
We tried a few things from the menu bc we couldn’t decide. Glad we did! Lovely staff and amazing food all fresh ingredients.
The location is very nice and the staff is courteous. The food did not meet our expectations at all, it was glorified pub food. Don't get me wrong, pub food can be very good and the reputation and the prices The Willow Inn is charging the expectations were somewhat higher but were not met. The oysters to start were excellent, the slices of cold cut and bread were average at best. The request for the burger to be cooked to medium or medium well was refused. We were told hey had to be served medium rare. In the end the burgers were not served consistently medium rare. The pork chop was very dry. I think the people in the group who ordered the Fish N Chips were satisfied. The vegetarian option on the menu for the group was removed.
A wonderful place… great food and friendly staff with a great view year-round. It’s a perfect stop between Ottawa and Montréal but worth the drive to just go there!. Chef Danny Smiles chatted with us for about 5 minutes.
We went here for brunch last weekend. We arrived quite early so Chef Danny Smiles was gracious enough to give us Table 55 which has an outdoor panoramic view. From the service to the food, everything was impeccable. We truly enjoyed our time and we would keep coming back. Also, those pancakes were divine!
Lovely meal, but overpriced for the quality of food and service. The steak was delicious but not worth the high price tag. I've had much better at the nearly $100 price point. The service was very slow at first, which wasn't really an issue, but then they started clearing the table before everyone was done eating, presumably because we were getting close to the 2 hour limit on our reservation. You'd think at a restaurant with this kind of history, reputation, and pricing that when the restaurant is only half full, they'd allow you an extra half an hour to finish eating – particularly when principle reason for the delay was the slow service at the start. In the end we had a good night and a tasty meal, but left with mixed feelings about a place that used to be one of our favourites.
My wife and I and our two close friends went to the Willow Inn to celebrate my good friends birthday. We found the ambiance and energy of the restaurant to be the perfect spot for a night out. Service: Our waitress was very friendly and had an upbeat personality. She explained the menu well and even got the bartender to make us a special cocktail that we make at home and it was amazing. The downside of the service was that it took quite awhile for us to get our wine after ordering it and there was also an extended period of time between the different components of the tasting menu. There was too much time between each phase of the tasting menu. The food: We ordered the tasting menu and found it to be good overall, however, it seemed more like select items chosen from appetizers and main courses that evening rather than an experience that represented what this restaurant was all about. The oysters were delicious and shrimp Cocktail too. The beets and cured meat were very flavourful. The fish dish was beautifully cooked. The steak was flavourful and perfectly cooked but I found one steak for 4 people to be too little. The desserts were ok overall but nothing to write home over. The sticky toffee pudding was the highlight whereas the chocolate cake was very ordinary. For the price of $125 per person, I found that the tasting menu could have offered more variety, creativity and most definitely bigger portions. I will give this restaurant another shot in the future and order from the main menu next time. Chef Danny gave us a warm welcome and his staff was very friendly!
