Great room for the night on the second floor with an amazing view of the st Lawrence River! Beds and pillows were comfortable. Did not take a shower but that was the only thing that didn't look recently renovated.Hotel highlightsGreat view, Quiet
We were not allowed to make a reservation so we got there earlier in the evening so we could be sure to get a table, but we waited around 40 minutes to be seated, another 10 minutes to have our order taken, and then over an hour to have our food brought to us. We got calamari as our appetizer, which was good. For our main orders, I got the cod and my husband got the seafood pasta. The portion of fish was small and it just didn't taste very good. It wasn't very flavourful and I ended up just pushing it around my plate. My husband thought his seafood pasta was tasteless as well. In the end we wished we saved a few dollars and just went to a local casse-croûte or Mike's. Side-note: my son and his grandmother got breakfast there the next day and neither of them enjoyed their meal. My son said that the pancakes tasted and looked like pasta... though that's an opinion of a 9-year-old for you. Beautiful view, but unlikely to ever go again.
We had a room with a beautiful view of the St. Laurence. The hotel owner's daughter was extremely kind and made reservations for us in the restaurant which was fabulous. If you are looking for a romantic get away, this is the place. I accidentally left several pieces of clothing in the room and phoned a week later. They mailed them to me happily and free of charge. I'll be visiting again and can't say enough about the fabulous restaurant and the super fresh mussels. Merci!
You stop here for the amazing views of the St. Lawrence River and the amazing service and meals in their dining room, which also has beautiful views over the River.Rooms: 3/5
Charming auberge with breathtaking views, cozy rooms, and gourmet restaurant, and an overall peaceful, relaxing atmosphere definitely will be back!
Comfortable and quaint atmosphere. Table by the window beautiful view. Serving staff very attentive. I had the scallops and shrimp served on a bed of sweet potato puree. The scallops were cooked to perfection. The shrimp was large and flavorful. The sweet potato puree was a surprise in how nice it was. Overall a very enjoyable dinner and well worth the price.
Room 4/5: we have a room with view on the waterfront and a little porch. That makes up for the fact that the kitchenette doesn’t have a microwave and that you can hear your upstairs neighbor. Mind you we can’t hear the neighbors on either sides. The beds are comfortable and it was quite nice to sleep with the patio door opened once the screen was fixed. Restaurant 5/5: the food was A-MA-ZING. A varied menu and creative use of ingredients with local produce, super tasty food and gorgeous presentation on beautiful plates. The service was great too and the view was exquisite. We had lunch at the Auberge Portage earlier that day but it pales in comparison to the dinner we had here!
Two beds in our room, one had no blankets or pillow cases, the other had long human hair under the covers. The spare blankets in the drawer smelled dirty, so we all slept on top of the covers. Which was almost fine considering it must of been 80 degrees in there. No microwave or fridge which was incredibly inconvenient considering at 915pm, we were told the kitchen was closed. The dining room was full when I inquired about a meal I found out the next morning that it closes at 10, so maybe we were just denied for some reason. Terrible since I was coming off an 11 hour drive with my two hungry kids. Paid $156 for the night. From 830pm-530 am. The wifi was next to useless. And for 3 people, we were given 1 mini shampoo, so no showering either. The morning front desk lady was rude. Incredibly terrible experience. So glad I'll never have to return.
Our room was clean, this is all we needed. The place is antique and warm. The breakfast are good and the view is beautiful. This is a good place to stay.
Very clean place and the rooms are clean. For the price its excellent. Close to everything. The sea, public pool, not even 5 minutes to river de loup. Staff is very friendly. Will he back in the near future.
