I booked our stay for one night very last minute on our way back from a longer driving vacation. We arrived late and were given excellent instructions on how to access the property and our room. The room was on the smaller side, but we were only 2 and the bed was very comfortable and very clean. I wish we arrived earlier to enjoy more of the amenities at the Auberge. It's a beautiful location between the town of Sutton and the ski hill. The bar and restaurant were closed due to the pandemic but the entire area is very well set up and perfect for a nice social experience. We had a coffee by the pool in the morning before leaving and it was very clean and relaxing. The property has been very well prepared for dealing with the pandemic loads of hand sanitizer, great instructions, very clean. What really stood out for us was the proprietor - Patricia. She's a super organized host and went out of her way to ensure out late check-in was easy. Very friendly and helpful for our stay.
I booked at Auberge des Appalaches after a recommendation from my sister. The Inn is incredibly cozy and tidy. The owner is warm, welcoming, and helpful. She really thought of everything – from the tea in the morning, to the blankets on the couches for those chilly mornings. The room itself is clean and charming, and includes anything you may need. There's no reason to stay anywhere else while you're in the area.
We stayed in a king room, which we found large enough but plain, though plenty for a ski trip with not much time spent in the room. The new bathroom was very nice, but some noise was heard in the early evening from the restaurant/kitchen below. The restaurant offered some great food that was priced accordingly, and the optional breakfast was also wonderful.
If I were looking for a great spot for a romantic weekend, or just a cool getaway, this would be the place. The rooms, though not large, are comfortable, and there's a nice rustic feel to the whole place. Yet the wifi connects and works really well here. Patricia and her staff have been extremely friendly and accommodating. The food is top notch, what you'd expect from a chef, as opposed to a cook. I would certainly come back.
Patricia was super polite and helpful. Very easy to deal with. Family run operation that offers great prices on lodging extremely close to Mont Sutton. The bathrooms were newly renovated and were a treat after a long day on the road and the slopes. If you’re looking for the place to stay when coming to Mont Sutton, then you’ve found it!
Appetizers were very good but the main dishes were a bit disappointing for the price. The fish and chips were good, at least the fish was but the portion was small and it was served with vegetable chips and not a lot. We remarked to the waiter that we expected fries so he brought us a side of fries, which were very good. The main dish of trout was messy, too much beets and other stuff completely overpowered the fish. Service was very good but because the main dishes were somewhat of a disappointment we can only give this restaurant 3 stars
Michelin and Daniel are splendid hosts. We have been coming here from Bucks County, Pennsylvania with our 3 children since 2001 our twin girls learned to ski here. Since we come to ski hard and crash in the evening, the accommodations are perfect. We don't need a TV or phone in the room, as we are only in the room to sleep. We prefer socializing in the living room by the fire, and playing board/card games, drinking wine or beer... When the girls were ~7 or 8, they liked to color in paper doilies. One night the meal had just such "canvas," so both girls drew pictures and gave them to Michelin and Daniel. To this day 7 years later, the doilies are still up on the wall near the kitchen. This type of atmosphere is not for everyone. But if you enjoy the simple life, this is the place for you. We have brought dozens of like-minded friends here over the years, and none were disappointed. So for us, coming to the Appalaches is like coming home to family.
We went for dinner and jazz night. The music was good. The meals were awful. One appetizer was cold and tasteless, two dinners were so bad we didn’t eat them. This is so different from the many excellent restaurants in the area.
I can't wait to go back here with my wife! The breakfast and dinner are wonderful. The lounge and fireplace, the dining room, the atmosphere - amazing. The owners and staff could not be friendlier and more welcoming. Can't wait to return.
We stumbled upon this lovely place while looking for a meal across the border from Jay Peak, where we were skiing. We had a truly excellent meal there...perfectly executed food for bargain prices by comparison! We would love to come back any time we're in the area. The duck leg confit in particular was Michelin-quality!!
