Athens Souvlaki

I dislike the term “hidden gem,” because no business wants to be hidden, but it describes Athens Souvlaki really well. Their food is consistently incredible. Homemade pita is legendary. Spinach pie is wonderful. I’ve visited countless times and have always been happy with my order. Everyone who works here is very friendly too. This isn’t a Coney Island, so you may wait a few extra minutes for your food, but it’s totally worth it.

Excellent Greek food. The mousaka was fabulous. Loved the passticio. It was excellent too. Loved this "hole in the wall" restaurant.

I have gone to Athens for over twenty years! They are a wonderful group of people with a family nucleus. Very fine people indeed. They make the best homemade pitas in Michigan and I have traveled to many places and you won’t find anything close. It’s no secret , the Greek Salad is my fave! I take them to my friends on special occasions/ with the pita of course! Vegetarian options: I am a vegetarian and I eat there regularly. I used to love their beans, I’m uncertain if they still make them… Parking: Lots of parking in Southfield!

A hidden gem, tucked away inside an unassuming, dated “mall”, you will find Athens Souvlaki, that charming, pleasant dining establishment that offers prompt, courteous service worthy of Michelin recognition. Indoor seating, primarily for parties of 2 or 4 AND counter seating for those who recall it. The gyros are fresh and tasty and the portion was LOADED with meat on a delicious pita. I enjoy a generous portion and THIS gyro was filling. Whether you are in the area or just in desperate need of a true gyro, visit. I can only presume the other offerings will be just as delicious.

Visited here on the way to the Redford Theater to see Young Frankenstein. Picked Athens based on reviews and had a taste for a Moussaka. Walked in, sign said please seat yourself. Walked past 4 of the staff at the counter and grills. Sat down and waited 10 minutes and never even got acknowledged. Place was empty save a couple of carry out customers. No excuse. Walked out and same staff just looked our way and smiled. The epitome of poor service.

I first tried this place for the first time when I worked for Verizon Wireless call center about 18 years ago. One of the things I love about this place is its consistency. The food is always good and always excellent customer service. Today was no different than the first time I came in. Today I had the broiled chicken sandwich with lemon rice soup.

I was introduced to this place over 15 years ago when my co-workers took me to the 'Greek Salad Place'. The Greek Salad with grilled chicken is one of, if not the best, in the state. Then I found the Gyros... and I haven't had a better one yet! The staff is friendly. The food is delicious and comes fast. The prices are good. I love this place.

Best GYRO anywhere! MAKE SURE you ask for it off the spinning roaster as it is fresh and juicy! The owner and Wait Staff are super nice. I have been coming here since I was a kid...always great! My friend enjoyed the VEGETARIAN GYRO too!

This is a very nice place to eat. The service is professional and caring. They pay attention to the details. When I go there it's like having lunch at the neighbor's house. It is clean and the food is hot and fresh - except for the cold salads, those are cold and fresh! Tasty food all around!

Fantastic! Great, family type atmosphere with a home-cooked appeal. The lamb shank was amazing!
