I am very surprised that this museum has quite a few exhibits and very organized for a small town of Manitowaning. Also, it is not just decorate-a-few-rooms-to-old-days type of museum but actually have a few items used before. worth a visit if you visit Manitoulin Island.
Wow...what a great museum. Lots to see and a great collection. I highly recommend going you will not be disappointed. Wonderful place friendly staff. You will need at least 1 hour to see everything but I recommend more time.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
A remarkably good sized museum for the size of town and filled with interesting pieces. There are a mix of interesting exhibits and items from First Nations, Pioneer and Heritage days, most of which are local and in very good shape. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and I made sure to test that with questions that I'd had about some of the static displays. There are a several areas outside the museum outdoors as well, local buildings of note that were moved to the museum location and hold additional artifacts and items. Well worth a stop in while you're on the island and frankly for how low the admission price is I'm amazed at how much they have and how long it can take to go through.
Great little space with lots of information. I went with my 3.5 yr old, and it wasn't that great for her. That being said, older children who enjoy history would love this. Exhibits are very nicely curated
Great museum and a must see. Such a great collection that is well kept and organized. What a treasure it is. Be sure to see the outdoor area and the tractors and sleds, and the old school house which even had an old imperial era map. Learned a lot here and you can connect to the past.
History of the first settlers to that area. Very interesting.
Good, small museum. Only $3

This Museum is one of the best on Manitoulin Island. They've really gone above and beyond. Until Google Maps fixes their entry, note that the museum is right in town and not south of its boundary.
It has a great display on the culture of the area. I don't want to spoil your experience by spilling the details but there is definitely lots to see.
