Clean. Professional. Friendly. This is a classy,well run old school hospital with modern services. I was greeted everywhere I went by friendly helpful staff who escorted me to every destination! Where I was then treated with smiles and professional medical staff! Laurium reminds me of how health care used to be. Thorough. Caring. Excellence.

Recently my family member was admitted to the "New" Emergency Unit in Ontonagon, MI over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. I thought to take them there because I had heard all the advertising of how awesome the newly remodeled facilities were. When we arrived the one test that was needed for the physicians to make the best medical decision for treatment they were unable to perform (Ultrasound). Although Ultrasounds are done at this facility they are not done during the weekends or holidays. We were told by the attending physician that we would have to travel (at midnight) to the Aspirus Emergency Room in Laurium, MI an hour away. That was extremely unacceptable to us given the situation. Although all of the staff being very kind and very knowledgeable, the fact is this "New" facility is not equipped to handle all emergencies. I urge Aspirus to consider having someone on call to administer an Ultrasound. The public should be aware what facilities offer and that they need to consider in advance where to take their loved ones in case of an emergency situation. Kind Regards, Teresa Hawkins

Don't waste your time. ER doctor that we had was completely incompetent and discussed extremely inappropriate issues with us.

I broke my leg in 3 places and had to have emergency surgery. Every staff member did everything they could to make me comfortable. They were also very helpful keeping my kids informed on my condition as well as communicating with my wife back home in Mpls. I could not have been happier with the care I received.
